Although new to Empire mapping, jdk002 brings his talents from Starcraft and Warcraft 3, so he's a seasoned RTS veteran. His first map is for the grimy industrial planet of Metellos:
Metellos is the working-class capitol of the galaxy, paling in comparison to its brighter neighbor of Coruscant. Denizens of Metellos are characterized by deep social divisions, with the majority living in filthy slums on the ground level, while the rich reside in immense floating cities and stratoblocks in the skies. Despite these issues, the planet is a major producer of energy for the galaxy and is also noted for its corporate spies and other questionable professions.
As you can see, jdk002 has taken a single piece of art and fully realized it into a living world. I'm glad to have him on the team and look forward to seeing what he comes up with next!

After 14 months of solo development, Phoenix Rising has finally become a proper team. Faced with the challenge of mapping out dozens, potentially hundreds, of maps by myself, I've opened the doors to the fan community in order to complete the task. And jdk002 has risen to the challenge!

Not bad, so Metellos is kindof like a newer version of Taris I'm guessing, good job jdk002 btw!

Well, it's been around longer than Taris (at least as a Human colony), but yeah, it definitely shares some similarities. Taris seems a bit cleaner to me though, at least before Malak bombarded it.Not bad, so Metellos is kindof like a newer version of Taris I'm guessing, good job jdk002 btw!
Eventually.Oh, btw can you make a section for new planets....like their abilities and such?
As many as he gets done. I don't have a set amount. How many planets are you hoping to map by release time?
I'll let him answer that .By the way, how long did it take jdk002 to finish the Metellos map?
Well, there are a couple. The corporate info companies give it a spy ability similar to Bothawui, but with different characteristics (mainly economy-based), the sheer amount of people give it high credit value, and planetary rings afford it space base stealth (standard mechanic for planetary rings).EDIT: What is the planet ability for metellos?
