Ok well I am currently trying to make a few little changes to this mod by altering just a few little lines of text. However it isn't going so well because when I open up a file it comes up in a very peculiar encoding, almost as if it was written sideways. Anyway it is confusing as hell. Does anyone know a way to fix this cause it is really disappointing for me. Perhaps maybe the files where edited using a particular program?

Don't get me wrong I love the mod I just like to make a few little unbalanced changes because, lets face it, I really suck at this game. Even easy skirmish can be a chanllenge for me if I don't pay attention.

Also I do appoligize if this is the wrong forum for this topic, but seeing is I have no development suggestions nor am I having issues with the mod working correctly, I just figured this we be just as good a place as any to post my query.

Thanks for your patience and your help

Since you ask politely and since I presume this is for your OWN PERSONAL use only, and not for any public release (cause in that case I'd have to stick my Morgul Blade in ya neck ;) ) I will tell you how to solve your problem...

You need: NotePad++ & ColorINI! Both found at the Main T3A Site/Startpage (click the T3A logo ^)

Good luck! ;) Just remember that we wont assist you in any re-coding of SEE, in here. If you need any coding help later on, go to the Battle for Middle Earth modding section of T3A... :p

Dont worry about me using your files to make a new mod. This is just to make the game alittle easier for me. Besides if I was going to release a mod it wouldn't be as unbalanced as I plan on making it.

So rest assured that this is for my own personal use.

However, I have been trying to make a new create-a-hero class for the elves (so far unsuccessfully, animations are a pain). It always bothered me that you could only make an archer and not someone like Glorfindel or Elrond.

And thank you for your help! Luv the mod!

First want to say how much we like this mod; its more than a mod, its like a new game.

Second, it was very easy to download and install. Haven't had ANY issues running it except I tried saving a SEE skirmish over an original BFME2 file and it would not re-open; but that only makes sense it wouldnt

My questions this:

I prefer the BFME2 opening screen and sounds/music as opposed to BFME1's thats been put back in with the mod.
I could probably figure which files to copy where, but don't want to risk damaging it, so could I get some direction for that?

Thank you.

And I think EA is crazy not to contract to you people for these games. They must have family members of the CEO in the development team.

Thanks Aviator :xcahik_:

Let me quote myself though from previous post here...

Just remember that we wont assist you in any re-coding of SEE, in here.

'

If we find the time we'll help you, but most likely we won't, and changing that is not really a walk in the park if you have not modded before... but if anyone lese feels up for it, plz guide mr av8r :thumbsupsmiley:

Thanks for the reply and putting this where it belongs. I wasnt sure where to put it.

Ok well I will pass on this one (unless as you mentioned someone has an easy fix and wants to go to the trouble to spell it out)...

I dont mind it, its just I leave that game pc running the opening screen when its idle and we like the elvish music :thumbsupsmiley:

Since this is the proper thread and all. Where is the gamedata (well it was gamedata.ini in BFME1) where unit/hero/building health/damage is stored? I cant find it in the mod files.

IIRC, it's because the -mod command doesn't like changes to gamedata.ini, so you have to make the changes in a different file. So I'm sure there's a very good reason for it.

Try "fugg" if you really need that weight. Other options are darn or heck - works for me =p
