ok spent 4 more hours on the city, I think all the pieces of the gate will need their model geometry adjusted, units ar passing btween the tower and the wall, and the building will need adjusting as well. and on to the screen shots.

I already love this map ^_^

Awesome job!

Be careful about the balancing, though... archers that high up could get some quite unfair attack bonuses ^^

This looks awesome! My mind is already troubled with implementing it codingwise. I am not so sure that geometry will do it all, but we'll see. Worst case: remodel the wall pieces (rescaling). It could be difficult, or it could be easy (i don't know), but at least there are no animations to redo, only the mesh and possibly a few bones to anchor other objects on like trebs. Except for the gate that is. If modeling is too difficult, we might have to jury-rig some additional objects/models to keep troops from circumventing the only real opening.

I'll wait for that until i have something to work on. Great job so far! ^_^

um Im not sure but I highly doubt it, its beyond my skills.

0_0....now THAT'S sexy. =D

one thing though....how bad's the lag?

actually it isnt bad at all, because Im using scaled up versions of the same structures so the object count is still under a 1000, i believe the maximum is 2000 though. but for more comfort Im running an amd atholon 3800+ dual core processor totaling 1.94 ghz with a nvidia geforce 8600 gt oc and 2 gb ram.

I already love this map ^_^

Awesome job!

yeah Im aware of that, atleast they have a chance to miss now because of SEE. The gate to the second level isnt that strong about 4 hits with a battering ram will break it so its pretty likely the defense wont hold for long on the second level.

And now some more goodies after 2 more hours of work...
some shots of the main roadway from the main gate to the second gate ramp.
http://i220.photobuc...3/sshot0015.jpg
http://i220.photobuc...3/sshot0016.jpg

http://i220.photobuc...3/sshot0021.jpg
http://i220.photobuc...3/sshot0022.jpg

there are a total of five areas that I left for buildings to be built along the roadway, you can see those spots in the various shots.

Ill try and atleast keep track of what needs model geometry rework, and limit the number of different objects I use to try and keep the work load down a bit, but thus far as follows:

The main gate
the two gate towers
possibly the gate house as well
the two pieces that make up the mountain that bisects the city,
the generic gondor buildings placed within the city, i think 8 different models

Perhaps for this reason high up archers should be given an accuracy de-buff in addition to the increased range. Same for siege equipment.

Holy mother of...

I've been away for a DAY, and you've made MIRACLES already :thumbsupsmiley:
This is utterly fantastic! I bow before your skills NJM - this is AWESOME! ^_^

I really hope Sûl can code this gigantic baby in, and with the really extravagant multi layer animated sky we have on stand-by complete with mountains and all - this will be THE number 1 experience in SEE :xd:

Keep up the EXCELLENT work NJM and... if you like...

Well naz I would be honored to map for you guys

...welcome to the SEE Team!? ;)
I'll make a nice banner for you, send you the PW for Staff Forums and all that =)

You know... Sûl once told me that SEE has really become a full blown T3A Project, in a way, and I must agree. This once "one man mod" has really grown into nothing less than that, and I'm really PROUD to be the reason for bringing so much talent together, and to be working with so many of you! :xcahik_:

Well in the spirit of lord of the rings, I suppose you could call us: The Fellowship of S.E.E. After all is said and done, it is this one thing that has united all of us. Much like The Fellowship of the Ring, the many races came together through common goal, so to have we.

honestly you guys I highly doubt that you will have too much trouble running the city, Im going to do my best to keep the object count down, besides that haveing the upscaled buildings helps to swallow up large areas within the city pretty quick.

ok time to take a break, so here is a couple shots of the right side of the city:

http://i220.photobuc...1983/sshot1.jpg

http://i220.photobuc...1983/sshot2.jpg

Its alot less condensed on this side, The shots are a little old, I revised a few things but I figured you might want a peek. I put the economy buildings on this side in order to offer options to an attacker. Go left to the second gate or go right and capture the outposts.

NJM, i bow before your skills. You make a dream come true I've always had since first seeing RotK. This is just so fu*king AMAZING, i can't believe!!
One question though: Will you rescale the player-built buildings (what a word -.-) like the archery-range or the barracks too? Because that would add a little extra, if it's possible to do only in this map (Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease??  )

MAY THE FELLOWSHIP OF S.E.E. LONG BE HONORED!!
