You can indeed but I can't see how that gets around the issue of stars scrolling.

Ok yeah I think I completely misread your original post that might be a plan, the massive particle thing could be excellent, cheers for the tip.

HE doesn't own EaW because he's AMAZING and cant be bothered with buying shit games.. um..

well... most of the time..

It is indeed a good idea that we will speculate into when a conspicious point of time would be arisen...

Ok well editing each others posts aside (these last few posts must read weirdly) the thing is if you like stick a particle system on the map it won't scroll the with the camera, which makes me confused as to how this magic EaW one works.

erm, i guess it's big and a long way away, so you can see it through the invisible ground wherever you are on the map. and it'll always look the same.

so basicly it works on paralax: the active compoments of the game (ships, stations, planets, asteroids) appear to move a lot, lot more because they're closer. the object is still moving at the same speed, but because it's so far away you don't notice.

Makes sense, but you can't have invisible ground. We need to see how low the terrain can go I guess now.

It would be cool if you could pull this off. With C&C being a Land based mod it would be allot of troubile I am sure. It might be better if you used a space battle type game all toghther like Star Trek Armada. Also are you going to try and integrate both space and land battles such as have orbital defense lasers and orbital bombardments?

Well i dont know if you've noticed but Only War 2 has ground battles.. HMM

Our goal is to achieve both space and ground based warfare in one single mod..

that would scroll. we don't want stars scrolling.

the ground you see is a texture, no? if you were to make a clear texture (no colour, not even white) then surely you would see through it.

otherwise, we make the ground really low, and make them all really high hovering units, and fix the camera out really high.

the space effect is just creating a good optical illusion.
