I was recently reading the no hardpoints thread and even though I agree with PR when he says hardpoints give too much advantage to fighters, I also think that important parts of the ships have to be put as hardpoints. This is the case of the Eclipse: it is way too powerful because of the superlaser. I once took a fleet of two Independence, 11 New Republic Star Destroyer, 10 Liberty class cruisers, and a lot of squadrons with just the Eclipse and a couple of Star Destroyers! You have to make the superlaser a hardpoint, maybe difficult to destroy, but a hardpoint. Also, I noticed that the guns do not fire, why is this happening? Finally, I think that you should put a unit maximum for the Eclipse, maybe two, because if not you can have as many as you want!

The guns don't fire because the PG model has no bones for them :good:. But to be honest, the Executor does more damage per second by my calculations. The Eclipse is only more devastating because it does most of its damage in a single shot. There will be no artificial build limits though. The cost alone is enough (200k).

Build time is proportional to cost right? So that means it also takes like forever to build one.
I havn't tried the empire team so i don't really know how long it takes :cool2:

In the mini-mod it was 60k so I don't know how long it would take for 200k cost, probably a couple of days, 200k would take a lot of time, plus, there is always avoiding the Eclipse in till you have a strong enough fleet, that's what the Rebellion did, they got ships at less cost, but had to flee many times from the Empire.

It's just over half an hour without any bonuses. So I figure you can build as many as you want without it becoming unbalanced... it's probably better to spend the money on more practical ships anyways, but the idea was that, well, it has the best SBD/RU values of any ship ever (directly converted from d6) - it's actually significantly better than the Sovereign, but more importantly, I just don't want a lot of star dreadnoughts roaming the galaxy - the battles to kill them are just too long and get tedious if fought too often.

Does this mean that the Executor is harder to build than the Eclipse - or more expensive, or are you making all dreadnoughts horribly expensive to stop you building them?

The executor should definitely be cheaper, as the Eclipse actually wasn't built until the time of the reborn emperor. And it was built in secret (wounder how they manage to keep something that big a secret?) It was also meant to be the ultimate warship of the time, so you can expect that it was rather pricey.

Executor is 125k plus its fighter complement (same with the Eclipse, forgot to mention fighter cost before).

And equal price tag? The Eclipse was supposed to out date and out class the Executor class.

So wait, price goes up on upgrades now????Or for the Executor-class Star Destroyer is it 125k including fighters that come with it, or did you add more to the 125k with the higher level fighters in later upgrades? Or did i just misunderstand???

The base price of the ship itself is 125k, then the complement costs you another 44640 (this does not change as you upgrade; only if you add more complement), so 169640 total.

No, you must pay for it. I think the Praetor is 25k and the Independence is 22.5k.

I don't know. Maybe. It's still 10-20 hours of work (at least) depending on how clean the model is and there are certainly better things to spend my time on.
