THAT IS WHAT A MATTOCK LOOKS LIKE? The dwarves of the Iron Hills fought with pick axes? Forget mattocks. Blah!

It's unlikely a war mattock would have the pick attatchment. The mattock makes perfect sense as a weapon... it's just a horizontal axe blade really.

I'm sorry, but we're having them.

Edit: And here's one I made just now:

I think there is another kind of mattock. One side is like an average axe, and the other like a horizontal one pictured above.

What on earth would be the point of that? Digging tool and wood chopping tool in one tool?

No, I didnt describe that well. I am going on a vague memory. Sorry, but it might have been an average mattock. I have pictures of many odd tools in my head since the time I was 5. I do know there is more one type pickaxe.

To my knowledge, a mattock can be any type of tool (or in our case, weapon) that consists of a handle (usually wood), a head (the metal bit), a curved blade on one end of the head, and either another blade, a blunt surface, or pointed edifice on the opposite side.

For an update today, Matias brings us a render of some of the Dwarves' weapons:

These include a mattock, and two different two-handed axes, in case you couldn't tell :p

Excelent looking stuff. I like the runes on the mattock handle. A nice subtle detail.
