Yes, the cannons would be a vast improvement from the arrows. I mean, it doesn't really feel like you're using ships unless they're firing cannons. I thought the exact same thing one day while playing Grey Havens. Hope it happens by Beta V! :p

Yea one more ! Please , i should love if it was cannons . But I don´t want to be dumb(Spelling?)You have done a great job .

No wait I vote for a new one, Javelin Throwers on the ship! Who knows even WITH a fire upgrade, it would bring in something new to the ships!

I'd rather S.E.E. the ballistae briefly shown on the Corsair ships, supported with garrisonable archers.
Here's how I'd picture the ships to go, for each Faction:
Good
-Men of the West. Gondorian sloops and warships, plus various other ships.
-Elves. The boats already in, minus the ridiculous "suicide ship."
-Dwarves. Lake-town skiffs for combat and ferries/large rafts for transport.
Evil
-Mordor. Corsair raiders for battle, and the longboats seen in RotK for transport.
-Moria. None. I'd rather S.E.E. them with no ships than non-Tolkein ones.
-Isengard. None. S.E.E. above.
-Men of the East. Various Corsair ships.
Cheers,
-mike

@ elfhelm:

If some factions have no ships they could be easily killed by long range ships...

Every faction need a navy unit.
Goblins could get the ability to swim, than everyhting would fit XD

I would give Goblins something like small floats.
They are very week and have 3-4 orcarchers, which are firing firearrows.
I think, that would be very defficult to make, but it would fit best.

Who's to say you have to play on a water-based map :p

When there is water on the map and one player can use it and the other one can't use it it is imbalanced.

If they have long range ships you are not able to kill them with land units and they can destroy your whole base...

Long-range siege weapons are VERY effective against ships.

I agreed , remove the useless sucide ship for 4000 ; ) And take a "Numenor Battle Ship" because Gil-Galad use it to push back Mordor armies back into Mordor. "With the Elves near incapacitated, Sauron besieged Imladris, battled with Moria and Lórien, and pushed further into Gil-galad's realm. The Elves fought back, however, and with the aid of the biggest fleet middle-earth ever seen from Númenor under their king Tar-Minastir, destroyed Sauron's army and drove it back to Mordor.

The fleet mentioned dropped off Men of Numenor to attack Sauron's army, not the ships directly attacking it
But it would be cool to see different classes of battleships, such as having huge, expensive warships, fast, mobile sloops, and massive transporters.

it's already in worldbuilder and it's looks like something the goblins would use. :thumbsupsmiley:

You know, there's a reason why they didn't use that :thumbsupsmiley:. Everyone hated it, so they decided to scrap it.

Fishing boats that act like farms (then naval warfare would have a meaning...)
Dale fishboat on good side and Corsair fishboat on evil side.

Fishing ships are an excellent idea and I think Sul will like it too. If possible we'll consider this for Beta 4.8 :p All ship work will be postponed until that version, but rest assure we will work on them eventually. Naval will be a big part of SEE (hopefully). SOmething that EA failed to do for BFME2...

Fishing ships?

Nice idea,I always want to have it since games early release. :p

@Nazgûl : You going to put people on ship? like "Battle for Numenor" did before,We can't sail the ship to sea without any sailor and captain eh? :)

And if SEE is focus on realistic i think it neat idea.

I would be faily easy for a Modeler to add bones (I think) were we can code units in. We'll consider that as well for sure =)

hmm how about allowing archer units garrisoned inside transports to actually, you know, use their ranged weapons and attack enemies.

Just bumping in to say that I haven't forgotten about ships in SEE. They will however not be worked upon for Beta 4.7... but 4.8 at it's earliest... Probably 4.9, along with the Campaign work. We WILL overhaul them though, at some stage =)
