it might be just me.. (new here) but.. I don't remember the Empire ever using mass amounts of Skiprays... I love the Rebels.. but am almost forced to play the Empire on anything othe then easy because the hordes of Skiprays are sometimes just too much.. hordes of normal bombers are one thing.. annoying.. painfull.. but I've had battles wen I was attacked by, and I am serious, 50+ Skipray groups.. the AI also seems to mass produce Barloz as the Rebels.. though that is far more managable.

50 Skiprays? Okay, first off, you're sure you don't have the instant building error? It's something I accidently forgot to turn off in the initial copy, so some people got it.

yeah I did.. I have that fixed now.. sorry.. I should have thought to mention that.. I take it skiprays have a long build time? lol... that will help.. alot.. speaking of that file.. does the folder in the zip go in the XML folder.. orjust the file?

Yeah, the AI spams like mad when it can build instantly, hehe. Skiprays don't exactly have long build times, but the AI's definitely more picky with what it builds when things aren't instant.

The GameConstants.xml file goes in the XML folder. Please overwrite the original.

thank you very much.. just did hat.. going to go try it out lol.. and.. great job n the mod man.. you saved this game.. I thought EaW was good.. FoC pretty much killed it.. (don't get me started on the ZC).. you made this game ito what it should have been.. I think we should all spam letters to Lucas Arts to hire you :thumbsupsmiley:

Would leaving the "instant" build on therefor be more challenging? :rolleyes:

Um, not really. AI fleets tend to be less diverse, and if you're about to be invaded, you can pull a defense fleet out of nowhere. The AI will generally expend all of its money really fast on poor choices and then just kind of stagnate. A better option is to increase the starting credits for the AI in the campaign.

didn't fix the issue... I still get hit with 25+ skiprays often, though this is far more managable I can never remember Imperils using them so much.. yes the game is a "what if" seneriano to do with as we please.. but I dunno about that many lol.. one fight earlier I was still hit with 46 groups of them.. I will say this was on "easy" as I was doing a hero search lol.. I was curious to find where you hid the heros in some of the campinges.. I dunno if on the harder diffculitis he builds other ships or continues to mass produce these (AI seems to only build Carrack class light crusiers.. IPV's.. Skiprays and Tie Targeter squads.. but this was on easy)

If it's a ghost codeing issue from EaW somehow that's fine.. with normal build times the frquancy of these attacks is down.. still vicious as Skiprays can be hard to kill early on (I find the Recusant light destroyer a god anti-skipray ship with the point defense system and high number of lasers).. but managable even in high numbers.. it just seems weird they build so many of them

Yeah, that's really the AI's choice and not mine. I've coded them to produce somewhat diverse fleets requiring fighters, bombers, corvettes, frigates, and capitals to be built, but they still have the choice over what's the best value in those categories. I guess I could try increasing the cost on the Skipray. I'll think about it.

eh.. it's a minor thing now with corect build times.. and I do see why they build them.. as far as bombers go.. especially earlier on.. they have nothing near as good

or make that less desirable.. just.. from what I have read in the SW books.. they just didn't use that many lol.. if it was a player.. hey.. it is all about how we want to play.. but I'm babling.. I've said that already

I don't think I have seen one upgrade in the Core Worlds campign...playing the Imperials, don't know about the rebels.

Yeah, sometimes they'll upgrade and then not build any of the ships :crazed:.

Hi PR,

I am hoping I don't sound ignorant asking this :good: but I too have had the enormous amounts of Skiprays and they can be lethal against my early Rebel fleets. The instant building error you mentioned, could you point me to the fix so I can check if I am having this problem? Thanks

Also (off topic a bit) the Empire in the campaigns seem to build far more Praetor class Battleships thean ISD's. I seem to be running into 5+ Praetors in his attacking fleets and the only thing I have that can stop them is my fully upgraded B-Wings (They kick butt). just thought it was a shame not to see the GE not using more ISD's that's all. I guess like you said it's down to the Ai what it chooses to build.

please note.. killing the instant build does NOT solve this problem.. is just makes it alil more managable by giving you more time.. even after the instant build was taken off I was still hit with 50+ and one time 80+ skiprays.. I forgot where that file is.. it's in one of the topics but it's long lost in my memory lol. sorry..

now.. E-wings and Barloz are good counters to skiprays.. mind you they do need a few upgrades first.. fully upgraded K-wings are also okay against them.. but E-wings do better.. X-wings also work.. but not as good until they are fully upgraded.. just a few ideas on dealing with the menance
