Yep, that's right, China has now decided to govern the afterlife. Bhuddist monks are now absoutely forbidden to reincarnate without government permission. I kid you not.

It is, of course, another plot to depose the Dali Lama by making it impossible to legally pass on his soul, but that fails to make it any less ridiculous, silly (hysterically funny?), and deeply disturbing. The more I think about it the more utterly baffled I am by this.

No, China isn't asking for trouble. They've been doing this for fifty years, they're holding on to an occupied territory and dealing with a veritable spiritual insurrection, which is in direct violation of party doctrine. Would you prefer them restricting reincarnation and basically centralizing control over Tibet, or shooting all Buddhists? Really, they have two choices; I like this one.
Also note that this isn't a ban on reincarnation, just regulation.

How do they know if you're reincarnated? If you don't state it, than I suppose you could pull it off. What if you are reincarnated but didn't know it? Are you still guilty?

What if I'm not reincarnated but state I am without asking for a reincarnation permit? Am I guilty? Maybe of lieing but what crime did I commit? Lieing, people do it all the time.

I suppose you are allowed to lie about some things like: Sure honey it's your baby (wife to husband) but can't lie about being reincarnated.

I often wonder what neurons fire off in the skull to make someone choose to pass a law, such as this, as well as get it through the system?

So what happens if I'm a buddhist, I die, reincarnate and don't get the Party's approval. What is the party dong, sending Buddha police officers to arrest him?

It's nothing new really - politics interfiering in religion. But this is the stupid way.

I mean of course there's more serious significance to it, but just the idea of the police screaming at a terrified cow: "Are you, or have you ever been a Buddhist monk?" I find hilarious. Trying to find who had been reincarnated or not I suspect will be a difficult practice. As for shooting all the Buddhists...they've certainly tried.

There country, there rules, we exploit China with cheap labor all the time.

Heck look at Nazi Germany, if they hadn't invaded Poland, the killing of Jews would have just gone unoticed.

Maybe it would've gone unnoticed for a little bit longer but it still would've been exposed. However, if Germany had never invaded other countries the scale on which the Holocaust happened wouldn't even have been comparable. The true horrors of the genocide started when Hitler realized he was losing and instigated the "Final Solution."

I'm really sick of hearing the "it's none of our business" approach. Whether or not it is us, as in the US's responsibility, is not the question. It's a matter of us, as in inhabitants of this world that's the problem. SOMEONE ought to step up, for chrissakes, are we EVER gonna step up? This mentality of "it's none of our business" has killed so many people. Standing by puts the bystander at fault. And with your Nazi statement, you seem to be proving yourself wrong. The "it's none of our business" stance killed countless Jews, Gypsy's, Poles, POWs, Gays, etc. It killed Rwandans, it's killing Darfurians, and it's killing the Chinese, and it's killing people in Appalachia and even New York. A violation of rights is just that, and it must be addressed. I'm glad China is hosting the Olympics, it's drawing some attention to them, maybe now they'll respond, maybe. Anythings better than nothing, at least.

We never will because we are a cheap, materialistic driven society where the majority of our products i.e. our clothes, our cars, our homes, etc are made by other people.

We will never directly interfer with China becauses its drives the production of our ipods, etc, so get over it.

LOL you moron, I'm a Libertarian, AKA pro Free Markets and civil rights. This is the opposite to statism that supports either ideology (capitalism or socialism.) Neither ideology works when led by an elite. Go do some research you ignorant arsehole.

I agree with you. im as well sick and tired of the "it's none of our business" crap. if the US and others were to let dictatorships have it their way, the world would be a terrible place if we didit bud in. and chinese government must know of it's evil deeds and must be brought to justice someday.

Too bad the current administration doesn't grow some balls, and do some 'World Police'ing like we're famous for. Oh wait, all our shit is made over there. Scratch that.

OLD SIG
When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself,
first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.
Razgriz intrerpretation

The responsibility doesn't lie on the US, it lies on the world as whole. Unfortunately, we've proved again and again that the global community is a myth, and the UN is bullshit.
