for all you avid inheritance fans!

I am pleased to tell you that the title of Book Three in the Inheritance cycle is Brisingr. Sometimes one’s first thought is best, and so it was with naming this book. After many months of trying to sum up a complex story in a single word, it struck me that I had had the name all along. For reasons that will become clear when you read Brisingr, this title is perfect.

Brisingr is an Old Norse word for “fire.” As you may remember, in Eragon, Brom uses the word brisingr to start a fire. This is the first time Eragon hears an ancient language word, a word of magic. Later, when Eragon is cornered by Urgals in Yazuac, he shouts “Brisingr!” to great effect (see Eragon—chapters "Revelation at Yazuac" and "Admonishments").

Both elements of the cover, the gold dragon Glaedr and the title, touch on Eragon’s inheritance. With his painting, John Jude Palencar has captured the dignity and wisdom of Glaedr, and Random House has again designed an awesome book cover.

More exciting news is on the horizon . . .

May your swords stay sharp!

Man, that just sorta ruins it. I mean, first, they're using art that has already been seen in the Eldest Special Edition, and the title ruins the chain of starting with E and having 6 letters, like everyone else thought.

Ah well, can't be picky. Still can't wait until it comes out :wink_new:
Thx for the news elvenfury :wink_new:

:) i preferred eldest at the end than any of Eragon. But Paolini mentioned many parts that didn't need reading like ott explanation of things in some areas of the book.

i personally hated the dull parts of roran's epic quest. it was very dull and too long especially the boat part that really got me bored

I hope Book 3 will be just as interesting.

And for the people that don't know There will be a book 4 due to release summer/autumn 2010.

Never read an Eragon book, thought it was a terrible hybrid of LotR and Star Wars. Of course I could be wrong.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

It wasnt that bad in eragon (though the old man brom having magic powers and guarding over eragon...oy) but it eldest, it just gets aweful. George could probably sue if he wanted with a pretty good case. Won't reveal anything for 2play's sake, but it's just kinda sad...

So if I copied a book entirely and just changed the names, I could make loads of money too?!

By crikey Elvenfury, what a splendiferous idea! So only NAMES matter in literature, while plots are a free for all, gad but I'm being educated today!

Aside from Dain's point, a decade ago everyone would have though you were insane if you tried to sue a company because you spilled coffee on yourself and you didn't know it was hot...

I think I'm might have a go at writing books. How about ... "Lord of the things" ?
The story would be about a small little creature , a bobbit , let's call him Erodo. He sets out on a great adventure to destory the one thing , and kill the evil lord Snauron. Only then will he restore peace in Lower Earth.

.. What ? The plot is not IDENTICAL..

your annoying. :wink_new:

the plots are similar but not identical EVERYONE knows that. If George Lucas felt that it was so similar he would of pressed charges.

elvenfury, stop being stupid. You cannot have any possible idea if I've read the books or not, so that was insanely stupid. I've read Eragon 3 times and Eldest 2. You're also contradicting yourself. A minute ago you said you can't sue for plots, now you're saying that he would have sued if he honestly thought it was a copy...The plot of Bebbe's novel is also similar but not identical
