All right, I'm splitting up the topic so that we have one place to talk about all the leaderships.

First there is talk about the fx, below is was part of the topic for FX and my start on changing up the LD FX.

Also, I want to follow the BFME1 style of leadership where each hero has his own leadership instead of the 50 - 50 - 25/25/25 leaderships. While they are great, I'd like to diversify it up some.

So what would you like to see for the modifiers? I don't want to go to too extreme, but let me know. I'd love to see suggestions along this line:

GONDOR:
Faramir - [type of % - armor/vision/speed/attack/etc.] [who should it effect - everyone/knights/rangers/etc.] [level obtained] [fx]
Boromir - [type of % - armor/vision/speed/attack/etc.] [who should it effect - everyone/knights/rangers/etc.] [level obtained] [fx]
Aragorn - [type of % - armor/vision/speed/attack/etc.] [who should it effect - everyone/knights/rangers/etc.] [level obtained] [fx]
Imrahil - [type of % - armor/vision/speed/attack/etc.] [who should it effect - everyone/knights/rangers/etc.] [level obtained] [fx]
Gandalf - [type of % - armor/vision/speed/attack/etc.] [who should it effect - everyone/knights/rangers/etc.] [level obtained] [fx]
Damrod - [type of % - armor/vision/speed/attack/etc.] [who should it effect - everyone/knights/rangers/etc.] [level obtained] [fx]

They don't all have to have leadership, but what would you like?

Well, I just barely started going through the leadership FX and trying this.

I'm not sure if this will work. I'll have to see what symbols we could do and what variation of color/shapes work. If anyone wants to help get these to work well please I could use help.

im kinda against the shape thing overall unless its the faction's symbol. for instance, gondor high level leadership could have little white trees glancing around. I would just do red sparkles for attack, blue for defence, and gold/yellow for both. (I also hope leadership gets 100% unique again :)) If you do want shapes for other stuff though, make them way smaller ;) that would look really wierd in the middle of a battle.

I agree with Yoda on this one, it may look weird in battle. Either size it down or alter it a little to, let's say, above the leadership heroes head perhaps? (kind of like the CE CaH?)
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

I fourth Yoda's statement. It'd look kinda weird if they stayed that size.

Well, I'm not going to drop this attempt until I took it to the fullest extent.

Let me know what you think of this:
http://rjrotwk.the3r...adership_fx.wmv

http://rjrotwk.the3r...dership_fx2.wmv

And just for fun, I was just messing around with things in a battle:
http://rjrotwk.the3r...till_battle.wmv

So let me know if I should abandon this. I have other ideas for decals and colors can change, but thought I'd push it further.

p.s. made this into it's own topic - check the first post.

LMAO @ the third video. There's just a Fire Drake frozen there, it's cool how you did that. I dunno, from far away it looks perfectly fine, but when you zoom in it starts looking strange. Maybe simply re-coloring the default leadership FX (the sparkles that circle the units) would look better. Well, here's what I think would be appropriate:

GONDOR:
Faramir - [+50% Range, +75% Vision] [Rangers] [3] [fx]
Boromir - [+25% Attack, +50% Armor] [Gondor Swordsmen, Pikemen, GotFC, Citadel Gaurds] [3] [fx]
Aragorn - [+50% Attack, +100% Experience] [All Gondor units] [5] [fx]
Imrahil - [+50% Attack, +25% Speed] [Fiefdoms Units, Calvary] [4] [fx]
Gandalf - [+50% Armor, +50% Damage, +150% Experience, Fear Immunity] [Everyone] [5] [fx]
Damrod - [+25% Attack] [Rangers, maybe only when with Faramir] [1] [fx]

Isengard:
Lurtz - [+25% Vision, +25% Attack] [Uruks, Crossbows, Pikemen] [3] [fx]
Wulf - [+25% Attack] [Wildmen] [3] [fx]
Ugluk - [+25% Speed] [Uruk-hai Warriors] [2] [fx] (either this or have a special power to increase speed)
Sharku - [+50% Attack] [Warg Riders] [4] [fx]
Grima - [None] [None] [None] [fx]
Saruman - [+75% Attack, +150% Experience] [All] [6] [fx]

Yeah, I'll most likely end up with just re-colored fx, but thought I'd at least thoroughly explore this option before I say no.

Looks good, 'd suggest you to keep it this way. Except for the red 'stripes' with Faramir's fx, it's a bit weird.

As I've already said, I don't think this looks bad, I just think sparkles will be better. And as I've also said, the faction symbol for high end leadership (gandalf for example, or theoden). I guess the reason I don't like it is the idea of a little shield and sword floating about :p Maybe if you could find different symbols (like alternative things the faction has) I would be more open ;)

personally i always thought an fx for the type of leadership was better, for better attack damage the sword glows some sort of colour, for armor/health then a body fx and for speed the boots get an fx-something like this. It can all be easily done-but i guess making it realign with every single unit would take ages

So you mean like localized glorious charge fx? That would be cool, but hard to show stacking and a nightmare to code and even model so it would work for every unit.

I'm pretty much open to nearly any leadership FX, my only requirements:

1) You know right away what type of leadership you have (we are also going to more unique leadership, not just 50, 50, 25/25/25)
2) It does not mess up screenshots (right now it's near impossible to have some heroes in screenshots that are nice because of the fx.
3) It won't take a year to code.

I've been playing with the different options and so far what I've been thinking is:

1) Colored high-level fx. Different color sparkles for each leadership.
2) Different color/shape high-level fx. The shapes could be one for each faction or type, etc. One per faction with different colors mixed with the sparkles could work
3) I've thought about doing similar to what other mods have done, with like the circle designs/decal. With more circles for stacking, but I think this interferes with the selection decals and can be a little overwhelming for the large scale battles with leadership bigger than the units and 100s of units fighting. (With a different circular decal for each faction or coolor)

I think we should have leadership that are kind of a sparkle but different colours for factions, or maybe different types of fx for different heroes-depends how you want to do it. I personally hate the rings people use-i prefer a slight sparkle that doesnt totally hide the unit underneath but shows they are receiving the boost

Yea I wouldn't use the rings either. Don't know why, it just seems too detailed and present, I think it should be more like a subtle thing, since it's not supposed to really be seen if you know what I mean. Maybe change the size of the movement of the sparkles depending on what kind of leadership it is, and change the color based on the faction.

I'm open to anything. Gizzlez, how about you take a faction and give examples of what you'd like to see for leadership? Would that work for you?

i dont think we should use colors for different factions but instead for different types of leadership (if at all). i dont see the reason for doing it by faction because the point of the different fx are not to distinguish faction but to distinguish type of leadership.

btw, i also do not like the idea of rings, instead i'm partial to the sparkles or the localized glorious charge fx.

What do you mean by types of fx? Because if you have an fx for speed, one for damage, one for armor etc it could have a few at once and look bad-im not really sure what you mean could you explain-and ill do the leadership thing next week if thats ok, then after we get an idea ill do w.e you guys want

Here is my first draft of the leaderships for the good factions:

Gondor:
Gandalf - 300% XP / 25% Armor / 150% Damage / 100% Resist Fear
Aragorn - 200% XP / 150% Damage / 100% Resist Fear
Faramir - 50% Armor / 100% Resist Fear
Boromir - 175% Damage
Damrod - 25% Range / 25% Vision / 125% Shroud Clear / 25% Speed - Ranger Only
Imrahil - 200% XP / 100% Resist Fear

Rohan:
Theoden - 50% Armor / 150% Damage / 100% Resist Fear
Eomer - 200% XP / 160% Damage / 100% Resist Fear - Cavalry Only
Erkenbrand - 200% XP / 25% Armor / 100% Resist Fear - Infantry Only
Hama - 200% XP / 150% Damage - Heroes Only
Gamling - 60% Recharge Time / 120% Rate of Fire - Heroes Only

Elves:
Celeborn - 200% XP / 50% Armor / 100% Resist Fear
Elrond - 300% XP / 150% Damage / 100% Resist Fear / 100% Resist Terror
Haldir - 150% Damage / 100% Resist Fear - Lorien Units only
Thranduil - 25% Range / 25% Vision / 125% Shroud Clear / 25% Speed - Mirkwood Archer Only
Galadriel - 200% XP / 25% Armor / 125% Damage - Heroes Only

Dwarves:
Brand - 200% XP / 100% Resist Fear - Dale Units Only
Dain - 300% XP / 175% Damage / 100% Resist Fear / 100% Resist Terror
Borin - 200% XP / 25% Armor / 100% Resist Fear
Thorin - 50% Armor / 150% Damage

Arnor:
Cirdan - 200% XP / 75% Rechard - Heroes/Captains Only
Argeleb - 25% Armor / 150% Damage
Elrond - 200% XP / 150% Damage / 100% Resist Fear / 100% Resist Terror
Arvedui - 150% XP / 50% Armor / 100% Resist Fear

What do you think?

Given this I think it would be hard to do fx by type, since there will no longer be distinct "types" of leadearship. I think the best way will be like BFME1 where you have an FX that just gets stronger with the more leadership the units receive. Or different colors for the heroes.

Ok i have an idea, how about i make one type of leadership for each faction-but different colours for heroes? Or would you prefer me to make like 30 different leadership fx? Because that will be quite difficult to make them all original. With the stack thing so it gets brighter-wasnt that because basically everytime a new leadership was added the same fx was put over it giving it the impression it was getting brighter-when in fact they were simply stacking
