Couldn't it just be made so that a combo horde is fully upgraded only if both combined hordes are so, or the combo horde gets upgraded itself... If only one of the combined battalions is upgraded, the combo battalion won't have any upgrades...

Also, when a combo horde is split, its upgrades could be taken away (you shouldn't have combined them if you were going to split them again anyway ^^)

Let me know if this idea sucks or makes at least a tiny bit of sense .

Testing the water here... bear in mind we already have things like Mirkwood warriors + armoured warriors... and some other stuff like doubling up Gondor hordes.

But what are your ideas?

Well I think that instead of combo hordes you could ad more units per battalion
