I just recently downloaded the mod around 3 this morning and its now about week 28 or 30 since i started at the game at 3. This is due to the horrendous lag i'm suffering this mod and i know its not my system. There is a fix for it in the unofficial fixes however the link is broken so is there another way of fixing this without having to turn off the ai?

The simple one is to not play the GFFA campaign.

And is that the only one? I'd rather like to be able to play all of the different galactic conquests.

It's the only one where it is REALLY bad, the others have some lag, but not nearly as much.

Until we can figure out what exactly is causing so much lag, I'm afraid so. To be perfectly honest, I don't think the lag is actually "fixable" per se, but is rather a side effect of allowing 100+-planet campaigns in EaW. So you either have a computer that can handle it, or you don't and you suffer. But really the map is just the sum of Core Worlds, Inner Rim, and Outer Rim, so you're not missing much.

Could the lag be coming from all the different ships and variants? Plus all the different income variables: freighters, outposts, mines. Its a computing nightmare.

No, it definitely scales with respect to galaxy size, and the number of ships it has to deal with is the same for everything.

I doubt it. More variables would just use more memory - it's how those variables are used that might be the issue. But I can really only speculate without proper debug access.

The lag is mainly caused by the AI and autocombat. My AI mod uses less scripts then vanilla and I have the impression it runs a bit smoother in the grand campaign. The game usually freezes right before the AI starts moving units around and when autocombat happens.
