Confederacy, from the Official Petroglyph Forums has posted some information from the PC Gamer article.

  • Grid based building
  • Each campaign has 8-10 missions (3)
  • Stringrays secondary mode: Electric blast
  • Hell March will be updated
  • The Allied Cryo copter flash-freezes enemies and is able to shrink them in secondary mode
  • The allied Mirage tank disguises itself as enemy vehicle and an energy bubble hides all friendly units within
  • The apocalypse tank is able to "suck in" troops with magnets to grind them
  • No prism, but chrono tech for the Allied
  • Conscripts can throw Molotov cocktails
  • Co-op campaign can be completed on your own as well
  • Polar bears for Soviets

There's also some photos someone took of the magazine scans on the EA Forums here.

Interesting information. Did I understand correctly that the two commanders who co-op can share their units? As in commander 1 can direct the units of commander 2, should commander 2 allow it.

This is good. Grid based building will probably be a lot more pleasant than current build systems where a single unaccounted for rock spoils your day.

A lot of this sounds really stupid. It was cheesy before, but seriously, a freeze / shrink ray? What have they done to our blessed Mirage Tanks? That doesn't sound right at all. The apocalypse tank sounds amusing, but looking at the art for it, it looks terrible.

Well I think they could have got the idea of the Mirage tank from TankMakeupKit (The disguise weapon) in Ra2, as it's warhead can target vehicles. Maybe originally it was going to be able to disguise as them?

A bit better, then a bit worse. Grid base building would be nice, because some people are obsessive-compulsive. But, the only other thing I like besides the campaign stuff (although more missions would be fine) is the Apocalypse tank idea, although they could have though of something other than magnets to do the job.

Everything else kinda seems...lame, really. Mirage Tank doesn't sound like a Mirage Tank...sounds like they might as well call it a disguise tank. The shrinking secondary weapon for that helicopter...what in the world is that? They can't figure out Prism, but they can figure out how to make someone shrink? Lame, but I do like that they wont use Prism technology.

Also, I read yesterday that the game is being built on a new engine, termed the 'RNA' Engine. So, could this be a departing from the follies of SAGE?

If it is a new engine I can't wait to start making maps with the world builder.

About the mirage tank the whole idea is unbelievable(in the bad sense) I mean really a bubble that stealths units.

The new engine is only mentioned once in PC Gamer, in this scan. If you look closely, it can be seen in the caption for the top-right picture.

Realism is so overrated it isn't even funny. You already know what happens in reality, how is that entertaining...?

I read the Empire of the Rising Sun part and I lightly laughed to myself on it. Just wow, but I do say the Kirov Airship looks good, yet unchanged unlike the Apocalypse Tank, which reminds me of huge ant for some reason.

I heard that the RNA engine still had 40% of SAGE's coding...

yeah, its confusing, some say its SAGE, others say RNA,

id say that RNA is just a modified version of SAGE, maybe to allow naval stuff to work easier, and some other stuff...

Check it.
The Apoc tank in the pic looks nothing like what an apoc tank should, for one it doesn't have 4 treads.

Also read the description they got from what the Empire of the Rising Sun's unit concept art.

Now i'm not too sure actually on how *right* it is to post these here. They're not my scans, we don't even get the magazine here I don't think. But the original ones disapeered. So I won't upload these to another site...we're just linking to them on Imageshack. Thanks imageshack for sharing these scans with us
