Would it be possible to add space mines to a planetary defense? You could have them set at certain chokepoints on the map, or have a big ring around a space station. And they could be destroyable, but hard to target, kind of like starfighters or something smaller.

Would it be possible to just add them as attackable hardpoints to the Space Stations or something like that?It would certainly be possible (just like turbolaser towers in space), but it'd require changes to every map...
Haha...Who said anything about telling them not to run into them? And it would be a nightmare for the AI, because how can you tell it not to run its ships into mines?

If you're able to tell infantry units to avoid anti-infantry turrets, you should be able to do the same thing in space (at least on paper). And it would be a nightmare for the AI, because how can you tell it not to run its ships into mines?
Who decides what's important? I mean, aside from the campaign objectives, it's basically up to you. Further, Coruscant's space map is recycled a couple times for some of the new planets. Why not put them on IMPORTANT maps? Like Coruscant.
