Yes, this thread may contain screens of tech trees, but that's actually not the point of this thread. Because, I want to make the tech tree a bit different. Yes, then I have to add more units, but I might also just enhance some units (Quad Cannon, Light Tank, and EMP Tank indeed). Alright, my idea is simple, first, after you've build a Power Plant, and then a Refinery / Slave Miner, you can build both Barracks and War Factory. Now, if you build a Barracks first, and then a War Factory, you would for instance get a IFV. However, if you build a War Factory and then a Barracks, you would for instance get a anti-infantry tank (indeed, the Quad Cannon with some enhancements). Some ideas, mostly for myself. :alien: Barracks - War Factory means first Barracks, then War Factory. Also, if you choose to get the Rifle Tank (stupid name) and not the IFV, the IFV will be avaible at radar tech and not at War Factory tech, same goes for if you choose the IFV and not the Rifle Tank (stupid name, again).

Allies:
Barracks - War Factory: IFV, Sidewinder and Guardian GI avaible right away instead of needing a War Factory / Aircraft Command HQ
War Factory - Barracks: Rifle Tank (guess what, stupid name)

Soviets:
Barracks - War Factory: Flak Track, Tesla Trooper and Flak Trooper avaible right away instead of needing a War Factory / Aircraft Command HQ
War Factory - Barracks: Quad Cannon

Slayers:
Barracks - War Factory: Dessert Wolf, Brute avaible right away instead of needing a War Factory, Slave Gunner price lowered to $100 (because they don't have a specific anti-air infantry that can be made avaible earlier)
War Factory - Barracks: Gattling Tank

Loyalists:
Barracks - War Factory: PSI Bike (will require to be able to transport 1 infantry), PSI Adept and Pulsator avaible right away instead of needing a War Factory / Aircraft Command HQ
War Factory - Barracks: Blaster Tank

You may notice, the War Factory - Barracks combination doesn't make units earlier avaible, this is done to promote the use of infantry. But ofcourse this won't happen if you guys think thsi idea sucks, so, what do you guys think of this idea?

maybe it would be nice to re-order the tech tree

so maybe have barracks available from the start, then a power plant, from the power plant is the radar and ore refinery, from refinery is war factor

or something, and yeah, having order play a roll would be cool

or maybe have it that you have a few different tech trees to follow along

so at the start you have maybe two types of power plants, then once you build one type you cant build the other

from there you could have two barracks, then depending on which barracks you pick you get a different refinery, ect

i will make i little tech tree example thing some time to help show you what i mean...(just in paint, lol)

That are great ideas! For example give the Allies a Prism Reactor and a normal Power Plant or so, when they build a Prism Reactor their units will become prism orientated, but they will lose some important non prism units, with the normal ower Plant their normal units get upgraded, but they lose some high tech units or so, something like that could also work...How much work I will have to do. But this idea will not be implented in the first release.

It would be better if you'll add Chrono Reactor that gains electricity.....

I do not intend to add a Prism Reactor, it was just to explain my idea. ;)

yeah, that was sorta the idea,

my idea was

say we have 2 types of power plants for allies (normal and chrono/thermal/whatever)

then you can choose from two barracks, heavy barracks and light barracks

heavy has stronger, slow infantry, light has weaker but faster (also, heavy gets heavier base defense, light gets lighter base defense)

then, there are two/three types of ore refineries (with yuri it could be slave miner, ref1 and ref 2)

if you chose heavy barracks you can build heavy refinery and medium refinery, if you chose light barracks then light ref and medium

and so on and so forth

also, once you build one type of whatever, you cant build the other types, so pick power plant one and your stuck with it, you cant build the other type

then depending on what you pick early on you get different things later on
(eg, pick heavy war factory and radar, you get heavy battle lab, light war factory and light radar means light battlelab)

here is a big complicated example, the pink is an example of one path the player could take 9ofcoarse you dont have to have it this complicated for your mod, as if each team was like this it would take too much work
(cameos are just there as place holders, you wouldn't actually have soviet allied and yuri) (oh, and ignore the stuff on the side, i just didn't add them in cause it would be even more complicated and in some bits they weren't needed anyway)

if you can understand that, then i congratulate you :thumbsdownsmiley: :p

I think the red and blue are the other 2 paths right? And the green is the path of the pink marked things (nice you marked it pink, helps alot). I think I understand it...Nice idea, and thanks to spend so much time into making it. :thumbsdownsmiley:

yeah, basically it started off following blue, then went to green(with the red war factory)

also, no prob, i mainly made it cause i wanted to

it helped me sort out my own idea, and i had fun doing, i guess

so yeah, hopefully you get what i mean, i think you do,

you dont have to go to so much effort, maybe just have two different ways instead of three
or less

it would just be a fair bit of work to do is all

i just realized, that this is much easier then i thought

i mean, with GDI joining the allies and Nod the soviets, the different building will be easier to come up with

think about it, allies can have allied power plant or GDI power plant

then allied barracks or GDI barracks

and so on and so forth

so basically you have two different paths already set out, just have a few extra path ways and you have a huge tech tree already there for you...

Why didn't I think of this? Yes, I'll do that I think...Bye bye GDI and Nod subfactions.
