The way I learnt is via the crap Microsoft Frontpage, just to learn the basic codes and structures. Then I found dreamweaver and fireworks and my page designs have never been that advanced. Using Image making fireworks, dreamweaver and notepad I have created professional looking websites with php and my sql backends

The most basic is the include.

<?php include "filename.ext"; ?>

That's as basic as you can get BUT your host MUST support PHP. You can't just use it.

Almost every host uses Apache, which has SSI (Server Side Includes) enabled by default:

<!--#include virtual="filename.ext" -->

if you must use ASP then you need to set up a user database (Access Database) or if the server supports MSSQL then you can use that.

I know i've said this before, but ASP is THE worst scripting language known to man.

Actually it isn't. The SUCESSFUL ones are written in Perl. ASP blows major ass. I hate it.
