The issue lies in the engine and how it paths ships sometimes. Since I've given them realistic turning radii, they require much more space to turn around in while still moving. It's probably not something you can fix without giving them the maneuverability of fighters (or at least freighters). I've never had one not come back though...

I encountered this problem a couple of times :( How do you mod how ship turns? I'd like to be able to allow all the ships to turn while in the same place, as it fixes very annoying pathfinding issues. I'd also like to force some ships to do this very slowly :) How?

All ships already can turn in place; just click-drag with the right mouse button to tell them which way to face. Turning in place is slower than using engines though. <Max_Rate_Of_Turn> controls this.

Such limitations... PR when you are finished modding EAW. What will you mod next? Sins of a solar empire would fit great with PR. If you mod anything else at all. Sometimes you need a break.

When I finish with PR, hopefully I'll have a job :p. This will likely be my magnum opus of modding.

I hope you don't mind, but since this discussion is alreaedy offtopic - what other games did you mod? Since I like your attitude & metodology, I might give your other releases a try as well :p I may provide you with the list as well :D

Sucks for us. D:
I'd love to see you make a SoSE mod. o_o

Anyway, good luck with the job, hope you get one that fits your skillz.

Only problem with a SOSE mod would be I could not play it... :good:

I actually started on Dark Forces, but ah, I was less successful in the past. I mod just about every game I buy in some small way, so in many cases, I simply didn't release the stuff I did because it was much less grandiose: missions for TIE Fighter, scenarios for Age of Empires II, cards for Rebellion, and so on.

As far as team modding goes, I was notably part of the golden age of modding with Half-Life in the Counter-Strike era, when modding was still pretty underground (threats of a lawsuit were very real), but there was no shortage of talent. I was also a pretty big part of the Jedi Outcast community. My only other conversion-scale mod, Rebel Operations (mod #86 on ModDB) - a tactical co-op shooter (i.e., multiplayer against bases full of AI troops, or as I like to say, a cross between Battlefront and Republic Commando years before either) - basically went down because I couldn't find people who were motivated enough to work on it. That's why I can do just about everything with PR; I didn't want to be in that situation again, and realistically, we probably wouldn't even have a v1.0 out now if I had been.

So that's my modding biography in a nutshell... probably kind of interesting to see where the current mod came from.
