Eragon was shit :p Star wars in middle earth, basically ;) His Dark Materials was sweet, the bartimaeous trilogy is a hilarious fantasy/humor series.

i loved guns, germs, and steel actually. i had to read it for history class one year and was very much pleasantly surprised.

Eragon wasn't that bad. It just isn't fair to compare a decent work of fantasy to Star Wars :shiftee:

I never saw the movie, though. My brother told me it was worse than the Harry Potter movies, so I never bothered to see it.

The Bartimaeous Trilogy was a bit childish, I thought. I only read the first one. Maybe if I'd read it two years earlier, I'd have liked it.

And, to correct my previous post, Atlas Shrugged (and Rand's other works) is fiction. But it is really a book on philosophy, and as such fits into the nonfiction category.

Stranger In A Strange Land was pretty good in the beginning, but I advise anyone reading it to only read the first Part, because it turns pretty quickly into a dull, never-ending orgy with a spaceman/god leading a religious cult.
