Um i have not used spider mines for quite a long time.... However if i remember they have a switch in the task bar to set them to act as normal mines or to act as spider mines, so if you want to use them as normal mines then switch them so they wont move to engage.


guhk how I hate using a guest acct. The computer I'm on right now blocks all cookies so Revora can't remember that I'm logged in. :(

Anyhow, No, there is no such button BUT no such button is required. If a spider mine is given a MOVE order to a location it will sit pasivly and wait to be squished (boom) like a std mine. If a spider mine is given a GUARD order it will protect the entire area and chase anything it sees.

I use spider mines alot.

I understand that. But, I WANT them to move. However, I don't want them walking the distance of 4 emperors to get to their targets. If you wait for them to get squished, they don't work on infantry. So... I do want them to move, but not far, just far enough to be more effectice, not far enough to get killed on their way.

On a random side note, has anyone played Sins of a Solar Empire. (I liked it and just wanna hear som1 elses opinions)

Not to jump in uninformed but... Wasn't there a discussion about Iron Man mechs being unbalanced due to their missiles especially, but also because they were too good Vs. everything in general? In fact I'm quite sure I never won an Iron Man Vs. Fafnir duel. The Fafnir always lost in my tests, ridiculously easily.

And Assault Spiders is a unit I didn't often see in the battlefield and never compared to its peer units for its respective tech level. Almost unneeded unless Pend decides to break down and separate the technologies even more. Siege Spiders(the long-range missile launchers, right?) is another matter, easily the most annoying Remix unit.

Oh well. I will refrain from running tests again until there's a new WIP. It feels everything has been said about the current released WIP.

Ah yes thats true I knew there was a way to stop them from moving just could not remember how.
I rarely use spider mines myself.

Edit: allied general the predator in CnC3 is not as good as you make it out, sure in large numbers they can be a pain but that is true about "all" RTS games. Hell I have seen 2 Brutal GDI rush AI's wipe me and my friend out just by using pit bulls and APC's and infantry in large non stop numbers. You push them back but there numbers will only push you back eventually.
Same with predators in large numbers they will be a pain in the ass but with the right Anti Armor units on hand they are like paper.
