"Well, I can't argue with that - modding IS hard. But what would have become of games like Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Dungeon Siege, Half-Life 1-2, Neverwinter Nights and BfME 1-2 if we, modders, weren't there ? They would have long been forgotten. Modding is hard, but it's an honorable thing." - MorrisB

I actually don't think moultiple coders would be such an efficient idea because we'd have to keep sending those huge files around and trying to keep track of who did what.

Smartdude: Seeing your map in the other forum I recognised them from filefront, and though I don't want to insult you I should say keep practicing with these in mind:
The maps of the mod are mostly based on the story of the mod, so as not to bring down the rest of the work we should try to keep a certain standard. Your maps from the screenshots are quite empty which though it may be entertaining to play(I haven't tried them) it should also look the part. Your elven battle map has unnatural looking mountains making an obvious border, and there is a lot of empty space and overuse of one texture. Since you have the gist of mapping down, now you just have to try looking at it artistically. The map should flow together realistically, like a real world. Should you decide to keep at it, I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish.

Well i agree with u Kyross about codding. But what i'm really good at is creating summoning powers.
Not alot i know =) But still i can help u save alot of time.
Whell i practiced resenlty and created powers for:
Boromir lvl 10 - Gondor must stand! (permanently summons 3 bats of Golasgil Household knights) [240s cooldown] (icon and description included)
Karsh - lvl 10 - Spirits of Arnor (permanently summons 4 wights to fight for karsh) [220s cooldown] (icon and descr. included)
Sharku - Riders of Isengard (permanently summons 2 bats of Warg Riders) [230s cooldown] (icon and descr. indluded)

Etc etc etc =)

So if u r interested i can post my little work =)

Don't you know, that you can extract one or more object files, they don't fill much and they're easy to send to eachother.

I can easily make a list of "who-does-what", so this wouldn't be a so great problem. I thought of recruiting coders because if you look back, we already thought of dozens of new powers, skills and such. It would be quicker if we would share the work amongst each other.

Allow me to elabor-like: We would have to be constantly sending the files to each other to keep up to date. Since one file can be dependent on so many other files, having everything up to date would be essential. If two people make different changes to Gamedata or commandset inis, one of them would just have to redo it putting both the changes together anyway. If anything all of this would add to the time needed.

If we do get coders they should be able to make very specific things for submission. I know you can extract the object files but unless it's a brand new object file that's more of a template and uses no unique assets, it's just more effort.

I can understand your point. It's just we used to have Grizzlez in the team as INI coder, and it was good to have him, even with Ithron being the primary coder; Grizzlez has helped much in hero re-designs and creating new powers, and so I thought it wouldn't be bad if we had an additional coder.

I posted in the other topic anyway. But just wanted to say that me and Ithron basically had an effective way of sorting out the coding, I used the latest beta released to work on heroes etc he needs, then I copied all of the edited data (commandset, modules, fx etc) into a text document which ithron updated into his up to date file. Worked well and quickly and probably saved him some time, I just don't want to waste time only doing 1 or 2 powers for a hero a beginner could make. :wink_new:

Don't recruit a load of beginners imo, try to get people that can do enough to make it worthwhile to save time.

@HaveFun-summoning powers are too easy to do imo, try to learn some more coding aspects kyross may need such as fx, anims and modules. From them you basically can learn all the other things needed, I learnt everything I know by looking and experimenting.
