Hello guys. I need your help once again. This time, I need to know how to make my building better, more realistic, with better lightning and shadows and such, and feel free to suggest other cool things. The very light red is remap, the rest isn't. It's a building that upgrades all Tesla Tank's and Tesla Trooper's, but only the ones that are built after this building is built. It's more realistic (how can you upgrade the ones that are driving into an enemy's base), and this way you can upgrade units without editing every single map...

Try using a 3D modelling program and rendering a model. You still have to learn how to model and set up the lighting, but its easier to get consistent looking output than trying to draw in 2D unless you are a phenomenal 2D artist (you aren't). I can count on one hand the instances where I've seen fully hand draw .shp images that I've thought looked even close to being consistent with the existing graphics.

He could also use Copy-waste err paste and create some much better buildings. But still, 3Ds are much more recommended.
I'd recommend you 3Ds max.
The other 3D programs are obsolette,in my opinion.(tested a lot, gmax,Blender,Cinema 4D but didnt tested Maya yet.)

No money?Try torrents.

I've got bad experiences with torrents...The last ones where full of Trojan's, and my father forbid me to use torrents...Why is it not normally uploaded? Whatever, I'll start a search (again, I already searched for it a few times, a year ago or so).

Thanks (to everyone, not only secret)

How exactly is Blender obsolete when its still in development and has some features that 3DSMax doesn't have? I can't comment on the others since I haven't used them, but I'm fairly sure Maya is widely used as well. On the subject of piracy, you shouldn't be encouraging the use of torrents on these forums.

Torrents are much safer than using warez sites, the only way you'll get a trojan is if you use small torrent sites and don't read the comments on torrents before you download one. If you are worried about viruses, don't run windows, run linux or get a mac. Still small risks there, but nothing like running a windows system.

I would suggest studying the buildings already in RA2 & try doing some C&P stuff to help you get used to their style.

Im gonna step in and say that Cinema 4d shouldn't be just tossed out in the trash like you just did. I have seen some pretty damn nice stuff come from it!

For example this is a shot from Drokes Mod Derelict Soil. All the buildings and terrain stuff is dont in Cinema 4d by Droke.

Also to mention was all of graffiti's stuff done in Cinema 4d? I know he did some good stuff.

Blender is less obolette, but it has an pretty bad interface.Too many buttons.
And,yeah sorry about the part with the torrents.Cleaning up right now.

Blender has a none-standard interface, that doesn't equate to bad, it just means you don't understand it. I personally find it easier to use than 3DSMax and 3DSMax has loads of buttons all over the place too, all 3D programs seem to even if they are hidden under layers of menus.

I suggest learning 3D modelling. Nothing too fancy though, it can be pretty hard work. C4D is a little easier to learn than 3DSMax. Pump out some basic models. Get Photoshop or some other image editing program (more powerful than MS Paint of course) then mess around with it in that. It's a piece of piss once you get used to it.

GLHF.

Why is it not normally uploaded?

Because the legal version of 3DSMax costs around $25,000 last time I checked.
Weird that you get so unlucky with torrents as I've never had a bad one for Max yet...

Hope your luck with other 3d editors mentioned here is better...as said, Mig Eater is only one with skills (or the mind crushing patience - I swear, he should be called saint mig eater) to actually make bones of building SHPs.

It's piss-easy to do an infantry without, but a building takes a certain kind of skill that crosses the border of obssession. ;)

$25.000? I don't believe it costs that much...
