The fifth Red Alert 3 profile has been released; this week it is the Soviet Conscript:

Posted Image

Drafted by the millions, conscripts are conditioned from a very young age--long before their conscription, in fact--to believe in the inevitable victory and greater glory of the Soviet fight against its conniving enemies. Conscripts are also promised handsome rewards upon completing tours of duty, which is all the more reason why they approach what turns out to be a nearly suicidal undertaking with an almost-giddy enthusiasm. Though poorly trained, they are armed with high-caliber assault rifles, as well as satchels filled with a highly volatile, cheaply-produced concoction that's serviceable as a basic thrown explosive. Reports of conscripts drinking this substance for pleasure, and subsequently falling ill or dying, are described as patently false by the Soviet media.

You can read the full article, along with a short video of this unit in action here, at RedAlert3.com.

Realism is so overrated it isn't even funny. You already know what happens in reality, how is that entertaining...?

Looks interesting, but the AK-47 looks a bit kinda ugly. The knife makes it look like an old 19'th century arm.

If the bayonet can be used as melee weapon then the Conscript will be a great infantry. Cheap and effective.
Together with best modders since 2003.

There's no indication of the bayonet being useable, so I wouldn't count on it.

The bayonet is used by the russians because it keeps your head warm, not because its an arm.

I know that because i weared them.

You clearly don't know shit then, do you? I'd love to see you wearing a bayonet on your head, considering a bayonet is a knife that you attach to the barrel of a rifle and not a fucking hat. Would you like me to provide a list of clickable references much longer than my arm for you to ignore?

Pwnt.

In other news, I think it looks rather average. Nothing crappy or special about it. But I do doubt that players will actually be able to use the bayonet, it's just a realistic extra for the concept art like so many Ra2 concepts had.

What's so hillarious?

It was on the Romanian Aviation day.My grandfather is friend with some soldiers and generals.

Some where from the mountain troops(thats hilarious) and had some soviet bayonets.

They are tight,so I can't imagine how could an knife or grenade have space in one of them.

And no Caspa,I dont have references, but I think you also don't.

A bayonet is a knife designed to be mounted on the end of a rifle, not a hat.
The stereotypical Russian hat is called a Ushanka.

Anyway, instead of just concept art, I'd like to see an in game shot of the conscript for comparison before we all start "ooh"ing and "aah"ing, because we both know the two can be few and far between in detail.

Then go to the Ra3 site? Theres short videos of the units ingame on their info pages...

err,oops,bad english. ;)

Don't put it down to bad English, because we both know that's bull. It took two members providing clickable links for you, well after my insults for you to realise your mistake. It's not bad English, you're just a genuine idiot.

Edit: I just have to add this for everyone who missed it to take a good long laugh at

Would you like me to provide a list of clickable references much longer than my arm for you to ignore?

It looks like you're not tolerating mistakes. You actually just have to pull other members down and make the case so big as possible. I got very angry when i saw your posts...

anyway, im looking forward to Ra3...

I can see conscripts becoming imbalanced already.. cheap, decently armed and with grenadier-like features? I'll be swarming them. :D

Lurking moar since 2004 2003!
