Seconded. My vote goes to the email, the weapon of choice of the 21st century diplomat. Or maybe the mobile phone.... There's a more interesting question: emailing vs phone conversations?

Phone convos by far because they are far more personal and more intimate than an email could ever be, because you are hearing a real person speak and emotions and meanings are conveyed much easier. Telling someone "I love you" over the phone has a much greater impact than if it was sent in an email.

Emails and IM services do allow people to be far more open and confident and also no body can tell whether someone is lying or not over an email. No emotions are expressed. They are just words displayed on a screen.
