I think Phoenix said that the reason the Action IV is the Imperial transport ship is because the canonical shuttles were quite well armed. While I agree on this point, is it possible to upgrade to the shuttles? Imperial legions loose some of their glamour when emerging from bulk transports that look like they haven't seen a can of paint in centuries... Would it be possible to change the landing craft model once the required research is complete, or is it hardcoded to a single model? Or could units be garrisoned in the galactic map by manually placing them into transports? I realize that this is a minor matter, but there's no harm in asking :p
Don't think, Fingan, you aren't properly equipped for it.

Isn't landing model diffrent from space one? I think it was included only for the sake of consistency, as you could use Action IV as space transport, and Lambda as land one. I think Imperial Galleon would be a better choice over Action IV, but Phoenix probably doesn't have model...

I would rather see them both in land and space. It is just more canon.
"Just once, I'd like to destroy a starship that we didn't pay for!"
"Welcome to the jolly old death star."
"Vader gets the plesure of killing someone while we get to stay among the living. Private Perkins overhere has been stranged over 30 times haven't you Perkins." "Good man."

PR said he might make unarmed landing craft variants.

I don't know yet. Alternatively, I could just have them use shuttles in landing.

Screw balance. Canon > Balance, at least in this mod. I don't care if they are overpowered. I aint` gonna send my landing craft on attacks anyway I can't risk it, they carry precious ground forces.

Just God, those Action IV's are ugly as hell. And they don't even land they just appear...

Per sentence:

Well that's not very nice.
Since when?
That's your opinion. I care.
I don't know about precious... I just mass produce stormies and auto-resolve.
That's not very nice either.
Ok, that's true. OR Poof! OR They must have been cloaked.

<DevXen> Today I was at the store and saw a Darth Vader action figure that said "Choking Hazard." It was great.

My thought is, "Why build Sentinels when you can just build Stormtroopers?" It's cheaper and you get a ground unit. That's why I didn't use them.

Also, the rebels had unarmed transports, so it would be more unbalanced if the Imps didn't.

It would probably be more of a hassle than it's worth, but I could, hypothetically, force a Sentinel to be in orbit before you're able to build a ground company, and then just kill it when it's finished and replace it with the company one. Too messy and restricted though, I'd imagine.

What I meant when I posted this thread is that I cannot produce sentinels or lambdas at all. I have games where I have completed the Imperial tech tree and have not unlocked them. They are also unavailable in skirmish mode. Does anyone else have this problem?

They're not supposed to be available at this point.

I do! I use Gallofrees and kamazai them into Crusiers. 5 of them kill many ships. Godd anti fighter craft too.

Couldn't it be like heroes upgrading and the old unit disappering?

I seem to remember in one of the early development threads last year that Phoenix originally planned to give the Lambda and Sentinel 8 transport upgrades each as per the GR-75 Medium transport, but ran into a number of Techhie problems and pulled them both from the first release - possibly due to the models.
They were added to the unit roster before the full version was released, and before the final upgrade process was designed and completed.

I don't think I have seen anything since then that indicates they will be back.

However, I think they should be back purely as combat ships in the same way as the Barloz freighter exists. Shuttles after all do have a transportation capacity.

If this is the case, Sentinels should be available as heavily armored transports, with a similar role to the ATR-6.

It would make heroes more interesting if they got fully upgraded Lambdas/Sentinels where relevant.

The unit group itself works for Lambdas and Sentinels...I have two groups of four that spawn out of my star destroyers b/c that is canonically what they were equipped with. Usually just use them for starfighter defense of the SD itself, which they're pretty good at. So, you can use the unit if it spawns from somewhere anyway...

The Star Destroyers may be equipped with shuttles, but they were NOT intended for combat. They are used as... well shuttles!

That's debatable actually...they're armed, aren't they? Truth be told, they're well armed. If you've ever played TIE fighter or any of the XW games, they were often used as a poor man's attack craft...anyway...

That was my thought as well. I could, however, include transports in with fighter complements if there was enough support for it. What does everyone think?
