The idea is pretty simple:The most known separatist regions are showing off that they can do some changes around.

It seems that Transdniester is the most possible conflict zone.Should we expect this or not?

Discuss.

As some of you may know, Spain has neglected to recognise Kosovo as it would send a pro independence message to the Basque and Catalan regions. The success rate (as in better living standard etc) for independent states is not very high tbh, history is littered with failed states, that and I think making states smaller and smaller could lead to weaknesses, both politically and economically.

I would disagree. The bigger the state becomes, the more people are being lumped into one big ethnicity, and the more people will be ruled by a law that might not even suit everyone. Smaller states allows their governments to cater to the needs of its minorities more easily, and makes it less likely that minorities exist in the first place.

I agree the very large states do have this fault, there is a size that is not too big or too small.

That's where local government comes into play. The small states cannot support themselves, militarily, economically, socially or politically. The USA actually has the right idea here: several minor powers (the states) banded together under one banner (the stars and stripes). The USA is a very powerful political, social and economic entity, though the bast majority of the states alone would not be so. California is an exception.

A far more interesting point here is that, as was brought up in a different thread, the historical independence and ethnicity of a region should be considered, and Basque/Catalan Spain was, historically, independent. The kingdom of Aragon was one of the stronger minor kingdoms of medieval Europe, but as a part of Spain they are part of a complete whole. This is like Scotland's attempt to break away from the United Kingdom. If they were to do so, they would become too weak, both economically and politically, to survive in the global atmosphere, but as a part of Great Britain, they will not.

It is arguable whether England and Wales would be better off without Scotland on board.... Discuss. :thumbsupsmiley:

Well I think Kurds will try to establish their own state, but Turkic agressive nationalism doesn't allow this scenario. Maybe few decades later there will be war for independent Kurdistan which is broken to provinces of 3 countries (Turkey, Iraq, Iran). Same situation is in Tibet or islamic provinces of China, in many African countries (there is still some reason for war). Bolivia could fragment into 2 countries (left-winger and right-winger). Quebec or Scotland will be maybe independent (plebiscit), Basques and Catalans would be independent, too, one day. China won't let any provinces be free (like Turkic Kurdistan), Ossetia and Abhazia will be both Russian (they are in fact) and Pakistan will annect Kashmir (nuclear war maybe :thumbsupsmiley: ).

Anyways independent country doesn't mean independence. Today's politicians lets more and more power to firms and corporations (neopunk sci-fi is getting real), globalism leds to situation when rich countries are even more rich (rather TOP 10000 from each of these countries is more and more rich) and people from the 3rd world are getting worse and worse working conditions (Assian race to the bottom) where it gets similar to 19th century.

There's something more dangerous to world peace - American Missile Defence System (I can't see any anti-missile there). Because of these right-winger bootlickers of the US government from current Czech government (they aren't even qualified for their resorts) will Russia bombard future Radar (if Czech government won't be stopped to let this be built) in Brdy in the Czech Republic, then Poland and Hungary (radar in Georgia was their first target), then there will be war between EU and Russia.
Then we will be in shadow of Russia ...
Russia will bombard us, agressive part of moslims will overrun us and Chinese will buy us all.

"Soviet Union was a superpower and each superpower needs at least 1 war at 5 years to keep army in a good condition." ... my grandpa. USA create wars more frequently.
