Soviet Highlights

Posted Image

Here are some images of battle footage showing some of the Soviets most used arsenal.

- Infantry -

Tank Killer
While just a simple trooper pulled from the ranks of Conscription, these lowly infantry are actually very good at their job. When they are promoted into "Tank Killer" regiments they are given, besides a feeling of pride, a cheap rocket launcher for use with anti-tank missiles. With a little bit of extra training they can use the weapon with fair accuracy, capable of taking out low-mid level tanks quickly and even aircraft. The weapon has only a short-mid range however, making it ineffective against faster moving craft. They are also highly vulnerable to infantry and anti-infantry weapons. Above all else this infantry can garrison structures, like the Conscript, creating a black hole for any armour and aircraft.

- Vehicles -

Hammer Assault Tank
Gone are the days of the Motherland bowing down to Western commands! The Hammer Assault Tanks are the second strongest tank in one-on-one combat on the battlefield, second only to the Apocalypse, also a Soviet tank. Armed with twin 120mm cannons it can destroy Allied Guardian Tanks in a second and bring down anything else in similar time. Its armour is vulnerable to anti-tank weapons however, and the weight of the guns make it slower than most Allied vehicles however it is still very effective at base assaults and defensive missions.

VCLT
VCLT is a miracle of engineering - a miracle that it works that is! The Vertigo Compact Launch Tank is a medium speed, medium armoured vehicle with one huge Vertigo Missile on its back. It can prep and launch this missile in top speed and in theory sending it colliding with targetted enemies. The missiles arnt at all "state-of-the-art" in that they cant track and home into targets, they simply fall. This means it cant at all target moving vehicles but it does make it a very powerful weapon against structures and clusters of stationary units.

Apocalypse
The Soviet pride comes shining from this unit, not only in its gold decorations but its pure power. Causing devastation in its wake, the Apocalypse boasts twin cannons and two rear guns for taking out air targets. It launches charges of Nuclear waste out of its barrels killing everything in and around blast radius; melting infantry and vapourising armour. Against aerial targets it uses concentrated radiation blasts, crippling the targets flight equipment. As a last ditch attempt at carnage if one of these beasts does get destroyed, it will explode laying waste to close targets... particularly infantry. The Soviets really want this to be the last thing their enemy sees.

- Aircraft -

MiG
MiGs are very, very fast bombing craft. They soar past their target while firing a barrage of missiles that slowly descend on the foe. They are able to avoid AA units on the battlefield but become vulnerable to AA batteries in bases. In order to hit the target they have to line up perfectly meaning they cant turn and fire while dodging AA projectiles, which makes them very vulnerable and often leads to their death.

Gunslinger
Gunslinger Hinds are great supporting units, and the only real support unit in the Soviet army. They use a central machine gun against ground targets, ripping infantry apart with ease. Against aerial targets however they have dual missile launchers which have only low range but are very effective non-the-less.

And what is said spirit? I dont even know what the spirit is meant to be, the last versions of the mod felt to me more incomplete/unprofessional than I hoped for. Probably because its my own thing though, I always have a tendency to dislike my own stuff. Its really up to individuals what they think the mods feel is though.

I see a funky flak track there too...

Well its all public stuff, though most things are slightly edited. The Halftrack is one posted by Yuri 08 on Freedom Studios, I just widened it slightly and changed a few colours.

Thanks for all three comments. :)

Not a big fan of the apoc either but everything else is pretty original in concept.
- Loose the bling on it...the gold really serves no purpose that I can understand.
- Use Tesla or radiation, but not both. It seems inconsistent and I think radiation would seem more consistent since it has an onboard nuclear reactor already.

yeah, funky apoc... fruity definantly describes those colours.... green, yellowy-orange and blue, i think it would look better with just remap colour and none of the others...

WTF, all remap? ;)

The darker blue is of course remap. The green replaces the light blue that was originally on the voxel and the gold is just extra decoration because originally this was the elite version and meant to be epic.
