This is just some ideas that I’ve been thinking about lately. Some I’ve tested & plan to implement at a later time, others would require a lot of work so I’m still thinking about them. Comments & anymore suggestion are welcome.

  • Multiple tech trees within each side that focus on different types of units.
  • Two different types of factory for light & heavy units.
  • British mobile “factory” that drops units via gliders(/droppods).
  • Aircraft factory for fighters & helicopters.
  • Naval airfield for seaplanes.
  • Some sides have fixed defenses others towed or upgradeable (TS GDI etc).
  • Japan can upgrade their defenses with camo nets to make them invisible.
  • Infantry towed/pulled light AT, AA guns & Artillery (2pdr, 20mm flak, Nebelwerfer etc)
  • Adding the American M65 280mm Artillery using the EMP Superweapon system.
  • Early units upgraded late game using negative prerequisites (already done this to a few units).
  • Different maps for different time frames, pre-war maps are clean & post-war are damaged etc.

The multiple tech trees is the least likely of them to be implemented, more likely each side will just focus on a type of unit(s). The unit upgrades is so far the only thing that I am adding & have already done for a few units, The Sherman is upgraded with the 76mm & the AMX-13 gets upgraded with SS-11 AT missiles late game etc.

I was thinking maybe the upgrade system could work other small things over with some nations, considering patch possibilities. Like maybe the Russian foot soldiers have issues with Fraidycat=yes until they reach first upgrade level.
Being a total douche.

lol intresting idea :p there are loads of thing that could be done with the sytem. I'm trying to make the tech trees bigger then normal RA2 to stop ppl being able to tech up fast & just spam heavy tanks etc. So several upgrade levels can be added.

I fact I could go mad & make a game mode where you start with pre-war units then then slowly upgrade to later war stuff untill you get to post-war like a Civillzation game etc.

Good sounding ideas, however may i caution you Mig not to make things too complex. You're definatly one of the more experience and professional modders i know but i don't want you to bog yourself down with too much more work on mod than you've already have. It maybe best to get the important things sorted first and you can always put these ideas in after that or during a later version sometime after you release the mod :p

Just a thought...

Isn't D-Day awesome enough to add all those beauties? Sure I wouldn't mind them to be included, after a first public release though...

Ok, not related to ur topic but ill post this here.

How about MIg you set a goal to finish this public beta, i know your busy and stuff but setting ur goal on v3.5 will let/make ur work a lot better and you will finish faster. And stop adding stuff that isn't necessary for this version of the mod. Add those in the FULL VERSION

I already have a set goal for the beta, which is basically finish the late & post war time frames, it's been that way for about a year.

As I have already said several times in this thread the stuff I post here are just random ideas that might not even make it into the final version let alone the beta.

I would like to remind ppl that just because I don’t post any news for awhile doesn’t mean I‘m not working on D-day, in fact it normally means I’m too busy working on it to post anything. I’ve done a lot over the past month, most of it mainly code tho but I should be posting some new Gfx next week.

Great ideas. :p
And I'd prefer the Naval airfield also to offer some carrier based fighters/divebombers. Or regular planes replaced by carrier based ones in naval maps?
Just curious, how is the towed/pulled light gun working? can all kinds of infantrys speed them up or what?

BTW, a CIVish game mode would be absolutely awesome, if it doesn't delay the release much :p
