S.E.E. Beta 4.7 - delay?

*IMPORTANT S.E.E. ANNOUNCEMENT*

As some of you SEE fans might know, we have a new and awesome fortress model from Digi_byte for the upcoming EvilMen faction in SEE. However, since Beta 4.7 is closing in, I fell I have to make this announcement in time...

I've tried everything I can think of, over and over and over again, and then some more, and then even more. I've read tutorials, and asked around. I've Googled and I've experimented.. but I can NOT solve the increbibly complex problem of adding the fortress into SEE! :p

Rad from Lone Wolf offered to help, but apparently he can't solve this either. There seem to be a problem with SEE's way of not using the .big system, but a folder system. I can trick WB to show the new fortress by doing a number of weird things which leaves WB graphically crippled. But I have NOOOO idea how to calibrate WB for a few faction. The "Edit Faction" option is complete jibberish to me, and no matter how many times I try I simply can't master it. Rad can calibrate WB obviously since he's added like 10 factions in his mod, but he can't get the Rhun fortress into SEE as he's used to mod via the .big system.

So, this is where we stand...
- Sûlherokhh has left the team long ago, and Robnkarla is missing, and noone knows where he is.
- This means I have noone of such master coder skills to help me do this, which in turn means that I can't get the awesome Rhûn fortress model by Digi_byte into SEE.
- That will render the EvilMen faction without a fortress, and I really don't wanna use the Mordor fortress which I do in the WiP.
- So... since Beta 4.7 is carried to a large extent by the giant update of the EvilMen (Rhûn/Harad) faction, I can't release Beta 4.7 until this is solved.

= SEE might be delayed until further notice, cause of this! Sad but true :dry:

I will carry on with other things in the mean time, but I will NOT release Beta 4.7 without the fortress. I just thought I should tell you all, so you'll know in case I can't find a solution any time soon... =/ Sorry

No, but in time for christmas. I was planning to release the private beta asap though... so we'd have some time to beta test it. Things are looking rather dim with this annoying problem. And @ NJM: no a reskinned Angmar fortress won't work, as it would give the same problem. BFME2 have 6 factions in WB. I need the 7th to be calibrated into WB. And I also need to master WB's way of operating models - which is su fugged up that my blood boils when I try to get a grip over it. The retard at EA that designed WorldBuilder and dare to call it a "tool" should be fired.

oh ok, gotcha. It isnt a model problem, its a game doesnt recognise new faction fortress problem. 3rdage.net has an article on adding a new faction to bfme2 and Rotwk you probably already read it though.

Yeah I did... But I can't master it. Besides, it doesn't cover everything... :( This is beyond my skills and a major setback in production

Personally I'm glad your going to wait. A major glitch like the mordor fortress for MOTE would suck :dry:

Its nice to see that SEE has the determination and the character to wait until the fortress is working to release it :p

Besides, I've coded games before (I stay out of BFME coding - way beyond my skill) and I know what it feels like for a major problem... like a unit not showing up or a ship flying backwards <_< (stops before he makes himself froth) so I understand. Also, its only a matter of time... if I can make my ships fly straight in EAW I bet you guys can make the fortress show up :p

Well I can't, but I know others that can. If they show up any time soon, I'll ask them for help and maybe we're back on track. If not, we'll have to wait

I´m using the same system for AotF and I´ve already added a new fortress to the game

Just tell me what you need, the fortress code or just the bse file

If you would be more to the point, Naz, I might have understood what's really the problem..
Or, I know what the problem is, but I don't know what could cause it, cause I don't see where you fail, besides in WB :)
WB is a good tool, and none should be fired for it :rolleyes: You just have to know it

=P Well I was refering to the extremely awkward way of getting your stuff into WB to begin with. Why do we have to fiddle with Asset and .big files. Removing the original asset.... Combining our assets into the original asset... swapping them... only to end up with a WB that doesn't even look the same way. And there's no good tutorials from EA on how to use WB either. Logically it should have been possible to make it a lot more user friendly. So I really do think WB sucks in those terms =S

Anyway: I'd be happy to accept any help I can get. I'll drop you a PM Elrond99 and we'll see if you can help us =)

@Lauri: I have explained the details of this problem somewhere, but I can't recall where atm :) I just didn't want to nag about it =p But in short... it's darn complicated to get the Fortress into WB to begin with. And once I've gotten sp far, I can't understand jack sh*it on how to calibrate the new faction in WB. I'm trying to create a "fortress_rhun" BSE file, so we can play the fortress in game. I can however do the BSE for the AI Base, since I've done that before, but it's the fortress_rhun that's impossible to master.

Well the good news is that Robnkarla definitely knows how to solve this problem, the bad news is he's MIA...
Lets hope he's back soon, there's 2 mods on hold now awaiting his return. That's gotta make him feel powerful :)

I know this is rather dumb and youve probably already tried it but there is an article at t3a about getting your stuff into WB. and there are a couple progs that add your stuff to the asset files for you.

Thanks NJM.... I CAN get the fortress in WB, but I lose the vanilla stuff, lol =/
The problem is rather that I can't "code" WB and the Edit Teams function...
