I spy an MO Centurion cameo. >_>

Nopez! It's public... I think I got it from YR Argentina... wait, let me check...

Edit:

No, apparently, it wasn't there. But I'm 100% sure it was a legal download. I'll try to find the site & post the link, if I dont find it, I'll remove the thing, okies?

The issue is that the original download, with readme etc, is on my old HD, and I only carried over the .mixes. So in order to identify the original author & the resource site, I will have to reinstall my old HD, which is >_< piece of work... but I'd have to do it sooner or later anyway to make the credits.

edit:
Using this post to present some stuff, so I dont double post.

Nations I considered for a time, but decided against using:
Posted Image
Posted ImagePosted Image
Soviet Ottomans

Ottoman Turkish Soviet Socialist Republic

A version of Turkey where the Turkish War of Independence ends VERY favourably for Turkey, due to extended soviet assistance. I decided against in favour of Turkey as an Allied nation in RA tradition. :p

Posted Image
Posted Image
Nationalist Chinese Empire
An alternate outcome of the Chinese civil war, due to the fact that WWII doesn't exist in RA timeline, and thus no Japanese invasion of China, allowing the Nationalist forces to focus on defeat of the Communists. This would have given Hacking technology to the Allied side. I decided against it for a total of 4 (!) reasons:

1. The Iwo Jima controversy - Likely, at least the Pacific War existed in the RA2 timeline, unless the Iwo Jima and Arizona memorials in RA2 only look like in our world, but deal with entirely different events related to Allied-Soviet conflict in RA (or something entirely different). I decided for the most interesting interpretation - the Pacific War did take place in some form (RA3 confirms this ;D ). Since Japanese invasion of China predates WW2, this is most logical.

2. Balance - the Asian Alliance - Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, Thailand, Philippines - already present a significant Allied powerbase in Asia. Giving them China would totally unbalance the story in favour of the Soviets (though the Allies do in fact control 98% of the world map at the start of campaign in unmodded RA2 ;D ). I could've given India to the Sovs in exchange, but there are more reason:

3. Respect C&C's established canon - Generals has established China as a communist nation, enemy of the western world, and whatnot. I'm not going to break that rule. It would feel like making Russia itself an allied nation. (Gaah! Think of it! *shudder*)

4. China as a sinister commie empire just feels right. Not to insult anyone around here, but it's the picture seen on way too many CNN newscasts.

Dare I say,ztype?!

I understand what it is with the factions(which, btw, make me wonder where this mod is going to),but what the hell is with those blinking maps?

If you can't find a decent one,go on wikimedia or such and search. It took me less than 10 minutes to find it,not to mention the bad 3G internet...

Well, they're both from wiki. But since neither will be used in-game, why bother?

Other than that:

New Stuff! - Aurora bomber

Like we know it from Generals - it will fly in extremely fast, unload its deadly cargo, and fly back very slow (accomplished via SlowdownDistance and a strafing run rather than stop-to-fire attack). It can only take minimal damage.

The weapon (which is a laser for now) has a shockwave-like effect where the damage spreads outward with a slight delay (and, no, it's NOT EligibleForDelayKill). And, yes, I know I have to balance the damage a bit... -_-

*** Also new: ***

Cyberian Dawn's equivalent to JP missions from TD and Giant Ant missions from RA, once player has completed both campaign's regular missions, he can fight in alternate timeline, where a desperate alliance of freedom-loving Allies and anti-capitalist Soviets is fighting the computer-powered corporate world government of...

...BOB BING!

With lots of new units (mostly those scrapped from the 'real mod').

Sorry,but I couldn't stop it.

Look man,think original and normal:
1.You are NOT going to EVER finish a TC with this kind of stuff
2.First off,try doing a sequel to YR,not start a TC with copied stuff from YR/RA2/RA1/whatevar exp. pack.
3.If you're doing that sequel take care to use ORIGINAL and NEW stuff, not things which were overused, such as Aurora,Siege Crawler(THE NAME DOESN'T MATTER ITS THE SAME SHIT!)
4.Look better in the comunity. There's a search function with a reason there.
5.Search very deeply in the comunity.I mean it.You don't know what goodies are being hidden.
6.There are some resource links around in this forum,go and search for it,its pinned. If its not in this forum its in its subforums.

Also,never forget:
If you really can't do something decent and original,or you're trying to do something which needs abilities WAY over your limits then DO NOT DO IT.You know you won't make it.Also, people WILL NOT work for you that easy.Generally, people won't work if they won't be payed. And money in this comunity is OUTSIDE discussion.

And exactly how are you going to enable a campaign that gets unlocked after the others are beaten?
Please, if you see a mistake in my posts - spelling, grammar, punctuation, or whatever else - point it out. How can one learn from mistakes, if one is not corrected?

1.You are NOT going to EVER finish a TC with this kind of stuff

Why not? I have _lots_ of boring afternoons ahead of me. I'll do a little work every now and then, add some stuff here and there. Step by step. It may take its time, and even if it may never be entirely "done", I'm having my fun at it.

2.First off,try doing a sequel to YR,not start a TC with copied stuff from YR/RA2/RA1/whatevar exp. pack.

No. It wouldn't be really original if I took up that idea just because you happen to like sequels. They're kind of boring IMO, plus, at the end of YR, everything that needs to be said has been said and I consider YR a great waste of narration anyway, compared to original RA2's storyline. Another thing is, first of all, what did I take from any expansion pack or from original RA? Then another thing, allmost _all_ things feasible with the RA2 engine have been done already in some mod, so it's impossible to do something totally new and original. The things that are left are minor adjustments. For example, you'll find that my Aurora behaves neatly like the Generals Aurora - fly in fast, but slowdown after firing. Took me some time to figure this out, but I guess it's pretty much unique to my mod.

3.If you're doing that sequel take care to use ORIGINAL and NEW stuff, not things which were overused, such as Aurora,Siege Crawler(THE NAME DOESN'T MATTER ITS THE SAME SHIT!)

I didn't actually bother to change that name, plus I never claimed I did. Are you sure you're replying to the right thread? ;)

6.There are some resource links around in this forum,go and search for it,its pinned. If its not in this forum its in its subforums.

That (in)famous Community Resource List is 85% dead links -_-

If you really can't do something decent and original,or you're trying to do something which needs abilities WAY over your limits then DO NOT DO IT.

Don't worry, hun. Nothing of what I do is beyond my ability. I'm just trying to have some fun and if that involves having Bob Bing as the CEO of a Reploid Productions-esque corporate world government, then that's just what I like to do. What in "having fun modding RA2" exceeds my abilities? 0_o The only thing I do agree I am running low on is graphical skills, granted that.

You know you won't make it.Also, people WILL NOT work for you that easy.Generally, people won't work if they won't be payed. And money in this comunity is OUTSIDE discussion.

Again, are you sure you reply to the right thread? I never said anybody should work for me, nor did I offer anyone money. What is all of this, then? :p

Let's take care of the more mannered visitor:

And exactly how are you going to enable a campaign that gets unlocked after the others are beaten?

That's just my little secret here, and it'll keep that way until release ;) Unless I decide to put up a tutorial at ModEnc. Quite simple, really. Involves a little meddling with .bat files and sometimes the game takes a dive and crashes. But generally speaking it works quite well.

He, I appear to have manners! :thumbsupsmiley:

Too bad you won't tell me, but I'll find it out anyway!

I just realized, NCoder is doing the same as I am, creating a mod with much new things. I've counted it sometimes, and in my mod, once it's finished, over 650 balanced uits or buildings will be added. Yes, some of them overlap each other, like a basic and an advanced artillery, or a basic and an advanced tank, but I like that.

If you only want units that all have a different purpose, then you'll only need 1 unit. If you throw in air 4, if you also add infantry you'll need 9, and then they already sort of become useless, simply because vehicles and even infantry will be prefered over aircraft, while aircraft will only be used for support (that is, if it works like the Harrier, I'm not talking about helicopters which don't need to reload). Add some artillery and helicopters, and you would have a game where no unit overlaps the other. That is on paper, because as you can see in (some, if not most) C&C games, nearly only basic tank spam is used. If you would take years to baalnce it I'm sure that everything will be equally usefull, but by that point the game has turned into a competive game where you must master a build order and such, simply because everything is equal. And that, I think, is boring.

It appears as NCoder will never finish his mod, and maybe that's true, but we should remember one thing. We're all modding for fun, or at least I hope you do it for fun. :xcahik_: I, also like NCoder, can't make voxels or SHP's out of scrap, of course I can edit them a bit, recolor them, etc, but I can't make them out of nothing, so I also depend on resource sites. And there are quite much, if you know where to search. I've always found the thing I need, and I really believe I'll finish my mod. So why would NCoder not finish his mod, and if he doesn't, who cares? We mod after all only for fun. So, while generally speaking I wouldn't give him a high chance of succeeding, it certainly is possible,
Please, if you see a mistake in my posts - spelling, grammar, punctuation, or whatever else - point it out. How can one learn from mistakes, if one is not corrected?

Uhh, well...

@1: I wasn't looking for a method to launch my mod. I was trying to find a way to create a campaign that can only be played when both the allied and soviet campaign are finished.

@2: As I said - this was a legal download, only atm I can't give you the link because the file's orginal download including readme file, etc, is on my old HD, which I would have to reinstall. And for now that's a little too much work. But I'll do it prior to release, so I can proove that it was legal.

Other than that, thank you, I appreciate your contribution to this thread.

I don't think you can do that. All three would be available at all times. Far as I know, there is no such mechanism to control when a campaign is unlocked.

And when you said .bat method, that was usually with releases hence the statement.

And no, that Centurion cameo Speeder uses IS NOT public as far as I know. He did a lot of his own work and that was part of it. There are, indeed, other Centurion cameos for download and use but MO's in _not_ one of them. I compared them up close and they're the same.

Find a new one or make your own. Yes, something as innocuous as a cameo can, and will, get you shunned. I even checked his MO graphics pack release and didn't find it. Now would be a good time to CHANGE it.

What cameo did Mad have for download with the crawler he has for download here?:
http://zombapro.net/...t/grndvxl1.html

(i assume the green light next to cameo means it has one)
Cause is that it?
Otherwise maybe on YR Argentina? Cause i to seem to remember public Siege crawler cameo's being out there too.

Mad's looks nothing like Speeder's and it's misspelled whereas Speeder's is not. Most of the other public Centurion cameos are directly from the concept art with no modification. Speeder's took a lot of time to cleanly modify the image to make a really good piece of work. That was _never_ public.

Update:

Because of multiple people complaining, I will switch the cameo of the Centurion to this one, which I made myself (and still needs work):

Posted Image

I'm pretty confident that I can either prove the legality of the download (as some_WeirdGuy said, I think it was from YR Argentina) or remake the MO Centurion Siege Crawler cameo from scratch.

i have never seen so many people rip on one person and keep trucking on like this person did.

i know some of you gave cristism. but wow. all the modders that made mods that i still own. have been ripping on this person. now i haven't sen much more since the post in july.

theres a lot i should say. but i'll just keep behinfd me and say this.

this person progressed so damn far regardless of bashing. you all should be ashamed. so waht if th mod was nooby? i would have like to try it. i have very low standards for mods. so its anything comedic explosive etc. its going in my books.

say someone makes a mod it has the subway sandwich shop as a civilian building. guess what?

im going to be rofling for a long ass time XD

so i hope you are still modding if not. then. : (
