I spy an MO Centurion cameo. >_>
Nopez! It's public... I think I got it from YR Argentina... wait, let me check...
Edit:
No, apparently, it wasn't there. But I'm 100% sure it was a legal download. I'll try to find the site & post the link, if I dont find it, I'll remove the thing, okies?
The issue is that the original download, with readme etc, is on my old HD, and I only carried over the .mixes. So in order to identify the original author & the resource site, I will have to reinstall my old HD, which is >_< piece of work... but I'd have to do it sooner or later anyway to make the credits.
edit:
Using this post to present some stuff, so I dont double post.
Nations I considered for a time, but decided against using:
Soviet Ottomans
Ottoman Turkish Soviet Socialist Republic
A version of Turkey where the Turkish War of Independence ends VERY favourably for Turkey, due to extended soviet assistance. I decided against in favour of Turkey as an Allied nation in RA tradition.
Nationalist Chinese Empire
An alternate outcome of the Chinese civil war, due to the fact that WWII doesn't exist in RA timeline, and thus no Japanese invasion of China, allowing the Nationalist forces to focus on defeat of the Communists. This would have given Hacking technology to the Allied side. I decided against it for a total of 4 (!) reasons:
1. The Iwo Jima controversy - Likely, at least the Pacific War existed in the RA2 timeline, unless the Iwo Jima and Arizona memorials in RA2 only look like in our world, but deal with entirely different events related to Allied-Soviet conflict in RA (or something entirely different). I decided for the most interesting interpretation - the Pacific War did take place in some form (RA3 confirms this ;D ). Since Japanese invasion of China predates WW2, this is most logical.
2. Balance - the Asian Alliance - Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, Thailand, Philippines - already present a significant Allied powerbase in Asia. Giving them China would totally unbalance the story in favour of the Soviets (though the Allies do in fact control 98% of the world map at the start of campaign in unmodded RA2 ;D ). I could've given India to the Sovs in exchange, but there are more reason:
3. Respect C&C's established canon - Generals has established China as a communist nation, enemy of the western world, and whatnot. I'm not going to break that rule. It would feel like making Russia itself an allied nation. (Gaah! Think of it! *shudder*)
4. China as a sinister commie empire just feels right. Not to insult anyone around here, but it's the picture seen on way too many CNN newscasts.
