Anyone else bothered by the fact there's a signal fire in almost every map? Shouldn't there be signal fires in locations only signal fires should be? It's like I'm playing a map in the shire and I see a big honkin' torch tower in the middle of nowhere. Anyone think we should model our maps to only have signal fires where they should be? Because we are going for accurate stuff here right?

Ya I have to agree there, it doesn't make sense having signal fires in flat terrain n'or where they wouldn't be logically, although you'd have to apply that to Inns and Outposts as well, saying that though I like what Robs done with the other captureable structures/statues on some of the official RJ maps....

Its an interesting question. Really EA made a pretty odd decision adding these in the first place, though they are fun.

When I make maps, I always place creeps and buildings very carefully, and I think that's the best we can aspire to for the moment. Going through EA's maps and fixing them up would take some time.

Yea, what was EA thinkin' in the first place? Why would an army go out of their way to capture a tower with fire wood; to light it on fire for no apparent reason at all? But it does decreese magic power recharge time... ( :xcahik_: )

They did? I've never noticed. Just captured them because they were there - same with the Inns :xcahik_:

Fractions of a second are trimmed off the power times I guess. But most the games I play lag anyway, so I can't tell at all.

Well hold on there. I have the signal fire locations in my map book. I'll post em' later today so we can see where they actualy should/shouldn't be. It'll be funny if EA didn't even get one right...

Well considering how blatantly wrong your book gets some things, I think it'd be better to go by the knowledge and resources of people well-versed in the Lore - such as Aridor.

The places of the Signal fire towers is well know. I believe Gandalf names them all to Pip on the way to Minas Tirith.

... Aren't we forgetting the fact that you've dotted those weird Minas Morgul towers round all of your RJ maps? Talk about freakin' priorities!

(if you're so insistent on keeping them, couldn't you at least change them to something that looks fitting and lore accurate, like one of those garrisonable neutral ruined towers? Gondor countryside + several big freaky glowing green tower things with magic beams shooting up into the sky = Epic Fail)

the ruined towers serve another purpose, nor do they really fit everywhere. i dont see how you can standardize a single building to use in every map (of a certain type) and have it fit in all of them really well.

Drew it me'self. :thumbsupsmiley: ... Well you can see a sliver of the map key that shows signal fires are the single dots. So... there we go.
