I seem to pick up on all sorts of those miscellaneous factoids.

Yeah, you're really good for that actually... ^_^ thanks. I took some sample in-game shots using the F12 button and all seems to have gone well, I'll go take some scripting screenies for everyone now... :wink_new:

Edit: btw, this post is officially reply 100... Jeth's post before this is officially number 100! :crazed:
Here are some quick snapshots of Beta 4.6.5, I'm going to take a couple of shots from Gandalf's speech at the beginning of the map too in a sec...

scared now, Ithilien, aren't you? ;) (I'm laughing hard)

Those are awesome pics! I especially liked how you did that book quote in the directions! :evgr: The river bed needs to be a different, but similar texture that the land though.

The next beta will come out on the 24th of December and not before, don't be impatient Ithilien :p It's a christmas present to everyone here from me, you guys all get Beta 4.6.5 to play around with before I release Beta 4.7 on Boxing Day. :evgr:

Believe me Jeth, If you like that, you 'aint seen nothing yet! I thought up a really good idea when I made this map... as you play, it narrates the entire battle with the text from the book, so it's like you're playing out the battle as you read it! And I've tweaked the text slightly so that whatever you do in the battle, even if you fail, the narration still fits in. Believe me when I say it's a unique experience! ;)

Yeah, I'm gonna change the river bed sand texture I think, make it more fitting with the land areas around it. I was just following the text from the book where it says that the pool beyond the wall had sand at the bottom, but I think I kinda chose sand that stood out too much. And I can't work out where all that foliage that I had in the pool and river has gone, either... it just randomly dissapeared...

Anyway, the wall's now walkable again, so you can have fun garissoning it as the Goblins attack! ^_^

A narration sounds very unique! :evgr: I'm all for it.

Yet another reason to wait impatiently for Christmas......

Indeed :evgr:

I'd kinda explain how I did the narration, but it's one of those things that you have to see to enjoy, you know? I dunno, but it kinda just fits in with the map really well ;)

No, I don't mean like scripting it I mean fitting it in with the events of your battle :evgr:

Btw, slightly off topic but I've removed the FG bug from the map as well by deleting the plants in the River Running, I dunno why they were causing it to occur but it won't any more! ;)

Sgt. Angel

Edit: btw, in one of my pictures above it shows what heroes you get at the start of the battle (eg. Gandalf, Dain, Bilbo, Bard and the Elfking) but as the game progresses you get other heroes such as Thorin and all the other Dwarves, Beorn, Gwaihir and the Eagles.

I tell you what, the best bit of the map is when it mentions Bolg's bodyguard appearing and then Bolg and his Bodyguard come running in and slam into your units, even with the strength bolstering I've given all the Dwarves and Elves you get pretty near thrashed by his Marauder pikemen (scaled down, of course ^_^ ) and Bolg has got some sweet-as powers in Beta4.7.

I still think it's cool that I founded a completely new Worldbuilder bug through this map :evgr:

Wa-hey! Very nice work. I like the by-the-book narrations and - it appears - very well-made scripting :evgr:

Though, you may want to do something about unit clumping in front of the the Gate. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, you have a point with the clumping. It looks weird during the battle...

Pretty awesome... and you know I ask for betas just to annoy people. I'm never serious... ;)

'Course I do. But I'm the only guy on this site who's gonna give you an exact answer when it comes to my map! :evgr:

Really looks an excellent map! And I like the narration from the book, I imagine it makes the battle more "Tolkien" feelings. :p

Thanks :p only problem I'm having with the map at the moment is the map.ini ('cause I'm none too good at those, and considering this is my first proper one... :wink_new: ) but once that's sorted, full speed ahead! Beta4.8 (next summer's release) should have completely new hero models and skins added to the game as well as new powers, but for now, all I'm gonna be using is current in-game stuff, reorganised and renamed a bit to make some new heroes. In fact, the only thing I HAVEN'T had a problem with doing on this map is getting Beorn to work! :p

But, yeah... anyway, back to scripting that lovely narration that's earnt me so much praise... :shiftee: Better get some screenies together when it's done... :santa:
