Your such a fucking hypocrite, nothing ever said "You obey the country, regardless of anything.", people have the right to choose, they may not be right at times, but every nation has fucked up somewhere, you have a right to be proud of your country, or hate your country, nobody is entitled to like your/thier country, so get over it and stop believeing in the "I'm everything, look at me not him, worship me yes, you MUST, slaves." fad and remember the word "diversity", that should be enough to get you back on track.

Anyway, back on track: national pride is a personal choice. Nobody is obliged to feel proud of their own country, and if you choose to focus on the more negative and/or brutal aspects of history, most people shouldn't be proud of their countries. Not even Australia, the party country. If you want to obey your country, it's really no different to obeying your boss at work. Company loyalty is no different to national pride, in essence.

Last I checked, that's a pretty good description of what the United States is, except it manages to not be completely cultureless. Really, we do need to start realizing that we're all members of the same species, living on the same planet. We're inextricably tied to one another, and we need to ensure that we're not just out for the good of our individual country at the expense of the world.

The very first part more or less summed up my position, yes. Obviously it's not that simple, as nothing in the world is, but yeah.
Let me correct you on the rest though: I have absolutely no problem with people living out their culture, in fact I am a big fan of the world's cultures, it's something that fascinates me. So I guess I'm in favour of a totally multicultural world rather than a cultureless. One in which every culture has equal weight and rights though, because we should all be equal as well.

It's ridiculous always try to point out our differences when it comes to a national context, when in fact we're all just humans. National differences mean fuck all, except for the administrative details it implies. And it's exactly those artificial national/racial/religious differences that some people instrumentalise to keep or gain power. And a lot of people don't even seem to realise that.
I'm Swiss... so what? I haven't done shit to earn it, so why should I be proud? Of course I like the entertaining legend of how Switzerland was founded, etc., but if I look at the historic record, I don't see why I should admire a state which is basically the same as every other. I'm grateful for being born here because I got to grow up in stability, liberty, etc. But that's everything that matters, not that I'm Swiss and you are not.

Theres rarely a problem with multicultural society as long as none of the cultures embraces violence and negative actions in some way. One popular example these days would probably be conservatives beating down their children for not following a strict, discriminating code of honor/decency.
