Hello there SEE community, long time no see! I'm kind of back now, playing the game again, and was wondering:

A. Is it possible to crack some code to make MELEE units actually "engage" in combat?

I mean, when they attack, dunno, their RANGE is weird, it has always looked weird to me, they swing their swords without really touching the enemies... -.- I think this is handled with a number, yes? Archers for instance have a range of, don't know, 30? Meanwhile, swordmen probably have a range of like 5, but i think it should be less, like 0 or something... and if it IS 0, then it should be -2... :p

My question is, can this be done?

and

B. Again, is it possible to make MELEE units "round up" the enemy battalion FASTER?

You all know how swords and pikes attack stuff in this weirds illogical manner, the 1st line of the battallion attacks, then some more guys from behind join the fight like 4 or 5 secs after initially engaging the enemy, and so forth. This is, honestly, pretty stupid :p In a "real" melee fight I don't think Rohirrim would stand and watch how the 1st line of the battalion they are in are slaughtered by warg riders... They should even attack the other battalion that is next to them, for crying out loud! 1 Battalion should be able to engage, with all its soldiers, all the nearby enemies...

Again, can this be done?

I have to apologize for the long post, I'm kind of talkative right now, and there is only my bro at home, and, well, he is not... LOL and I don't feel like getting on the phone, although I should really stop now.

Hope to hear from you.

Peace.

a) Yes, it's possibly :thumbsupsmiley: I believe the standard (at least for BFME1) it's set on about 15-20 :p If you put it on 0, he'll have to stand in the enemy unit, so it can't be that

b) I believe that all hordes have it so that anyone can attack, but the game just doesn't control them so that everyone attacks at the same time :) Then again, it might not be set to attack with the whole horde, as it's not just a single line (like BFME1)

Well I think that all soldiers in a horde should be able to disperse (a short distance) and attack, all of them, the enemy horde, while that one does the same. Fights would be a lot more intense and interesting, I think.

Anyway, I was asking for a reason  as I would like to mod these aspects of the mod... I know its asking a lot, but is it possible that you guys guide me a little on this? Even more, I'm an absolute newbie in modding, so I would not know where to start, that's why I need you! ;)

I would like to A. set melee range between 8 and 10, and B. make all (or most) units in a horde attack the enemy battalion.

(Like bloodthirsty bastards), maybe by, as I said, reducing the time they stand idle before attacking (if it's 4 secs, make it 2 or 1, even 0).

(Picture maybe a battalion of lancers, attacking a lair; only like 7 out of 15 soldiers attack at first... that's just wrong).
