It gets boring endlessly having only shamblers and sprinters...

The RP died, now to bring it back we have to make it interesting, if its exactly like before then it will just die again.

And seen as the Leaders are being removed, we need some new interesting infected.
Before the leaders were all different, so they could have all different interesting traits.

Now instead we can just have new varieties of normal infected with different traits.
and i was just thinking, what about 'Tanks'(big muscled infected)?
we haven't addressed these at all. My reason was that they were like the leaders, and we weren't going to have leaders, but if we want 'Tanks' to show up later on, then theres no stopping us.

What is everyones opinion? I personally am not fussed when it comes to Tanks, if you want them in then im fine with that, if you dont then i'm fine with it also.

The only ones i really wanted were the Banshees, the 'Boomers'(still need a name), and then 'Hunters'(super sprinters).

hey, if we (add in, and) call the Super Sprinters vampires then this could become Apocalypse: Revamped after all :p

Uh, you did read FZM post from before, right? You know, saying that he does have some ideas to keep it interesting. And whose to say that these special infected won't become boring after a certain time? I know that I only played Left 4 Dead for about a week before things got repetitive for me. I don't know about the rest of you, but to me, just adding more infected won't make it any more interesting. To me, to make it more interesting we would just need to throw a few plot twists in every so often, maybe stumble on a small military base (Ala 28 days Later) only to have it over run and have us flee somewhere else. Sure, not the best idea, but I personally dislike throwing in random infected. But I just think that the shamblers, sprinters, and the "bosses" did their job just fine, and I'm sad that we won't be able to see the rest of the chapter through, as I thought it went well, although, IMHO, not as good as the first.

You haven't really taken on a word anyone's said, have you, SWG?

@ SWG again - I think perhaps Banshee would be a better title, just to avoid confusion. Also, it's a great word. But I do approve of their existence.
Secondly, Super Sprinters don't exist. What do exist are really hench people, rugby players possibly, or fat guys, who become sprinters :p It has the same effect. I'm also probably placing a veto on 'boomers' (and before anyone suggests it, the other thing off left 4 dead with the huge tongue) as they seem a bit laboured and ridiculous to my mind.
As I have said before, half-infected doesn't happen. It's just bite, then delirium, then death, such as it is.
Sorry to come across as such a killjoy, but hey :p
'Infected that refuse to go down' I can see, potentially. On the other hand, most infected don't go down easily either before you hit them in the head, hard.

Your 'tanks' that you just suggested are represented by big fat guys or rugby players or weightlifters who have become sprinters. There are going to be at least a few of them.

Remember, this is going to start from the beginning. It's not going to start from us having loads of guns and the Infected being all evolved and specialised and whatnot. There's nothing but the basic strains at this point. Maybe some of this will come into discussion again at a later date, but for now I suggest you leave it alone.

Or is it blasphemy? Sweet spelling, mate. :p Also, I'm going with, no, probably not Infected On A Plane, starring Samuel L. Jackson in his worst role since Star Wars. I still can't believe he sank that low. Pulp Fiction was so very good, and then that...

Uh, you did read FZM post from before, right?

Yes, you are acting as if it has to be one or the other... is it to much to ask for interesting storylines and more infected types?

And whose to say that these special infected won't become boring after a certain time?

Nobody, and i didn't say they wouldn't. But its adding more content, more potential, more intering things. after a while anything would get boring.
also, again you are acting as if its one or the other...

To me, to make it more interesting we would just need to throw a few plot twists in every so Often, maybe stumble on a small military base (Ala 28 days Later) only to have it over run and have us flee somewhere else.

We did that already last time, if you remember. and here is another example of your one or the other mentality. We Can Have Plot Twists, Etc And More Infected Too

But I just think that the shamblers, sprinters, and the "bosses" did their job just fine,

Yes, they were all fine and dandy... But There Are No Bosses Anymore! They Were In America, This Is Going To Be In Europe. the bosses are gone.

To replace these bosses abilities we can add in new normal infected types, because there are no bosses in Europe

You haven't really taken on a word anyone's said, have you, SWG?

Thats where you are wrong, you are pointing out things which i already acknowledged and agree with, or that dont solve my suggest, example:

Your 'tanks' that you just suggested are represented by big fat guys or rugby players or weightlifters who have become sprinters. There are going to be at least a few of them.

No, those are sprinters, tanks are much worse
you haven't played left 4 dead have you?

Tanks are like the hulk, they are like Alpha from before. Huge muscled infected that could rip you in two with their bare hands
http://www.xboxygen....left4dead02.jpg

The idea behind them in left 4 dead is that instead of the infection causing them to rot, it causes massive muscle growth, resulting in a Tank.

Remember, this is going to start from the beginning. It's not going to start from us having loads of guns and the Infected being all evolved and specialised and whatnot. There's nothing but the basic strains at this point.

I already agreed with this... didn't you read my posts?

In the Beginning there should only be Shamblers and Sprinters, later on we start seeing Banshees, and the bloated dudes, and whatever else

I have said this multiple times, please listen.

I understand that, but I'm sure FZM has something else up his sleeve somewhat similar, but not off the radar like vampire infected.

Much as I appreciate the vehement discussion let's not ruin it by getting flamey now :)

@ SWG, I haven't played any more of Left 4 Dead than the trailer :crazed: More relevantly, I don't like the idea of 'Tanks' because, as you say, they are like Alpha (in fact, having seen said trailer I commented that that was almost exactly how I visualised Alpha in the first place, only less green) and he has already been done. As you say, we are after something different.
Boomers I still don't like, and though I bow to your obviously superior medical knowledge, it seems to me that such a thing would only ever happen by accident rather than deliberatly. Besides, I imagine the flesh would partially rot away allowing the gases to escape gradually anyway. Still, it could potentially happen maybe once later on as an intersting side-thing should you so wish. Certainly a good way to kill off a character.

@ Copa, Infected on a plane doesn't sit well with me. It seems unlikely that they would remain undiscovered for the full 8-hour flight from the States, and how would they even get on in the first place?
"May I see your boarding pass?"
"....Braaaaaains?"
No, I was thinking more of the infection being passed via marine/avian wildlife across the atlantic into Europe, not that it particularly matters. Don't worry, the course of infection shall become clear in my opening post when I get around to doing it :)

@ Southside, Vort and Copa: Your unswerving support is highly appreciated :p
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.

All I'm Hearing Is That You Think I'm Fat! *runs away crying*

:p

Dude. Give it up. You've been vetoed by just about everyone here, including the LEADER of the RP.

I was just defending my suggestion and making new ones till FZM's came back and made his choice.
Yes, he did so no at first, but i had proof contradicting his reason behind not adding them. So, with proof that his reason for not including them was wrong, then they could have been added.

But he's allowed to refuse regardless, i was just waiting to see what his final answer would be 'under the light of this new evidence'.

Now, for argument just for the sake of debate:

I understand that, but I'm sure FZM has something else up his sleeve somewhat similar, but not off the radar like vampire infected

I see, so you want something similar to the leaders, but when i suggest just that you are all against it?
And Vampires were just a name, as a reference to the fact they would come out at night, to make night more dangerous and scary and awesome

Nothing off the radar about that...

But this ain't Left 4 Dead...

yes, but the topic of conversation was weather or not people wanted something like the Tank from left 4 dead.
I said it because if vort had known what the tank was really like, he wouldn't have come back with his reminder on the sprinters, which are a long shot from the Tank.

now, @ FZM:
cool, im completely cool with no tanks, i just thought i would put it up because it hadn't been discussed... personally i wasn't that enthusiastic about the tanks.

it seems to me that such a thing would only ever happen by accident rather than deliberatly.

you said the virus was suppose to be mutating/evolving :)

Besides, I imagine the flesh would partially rot away allowing the gases to escape gradually anyway

And dont forget the juices, they would also have to escape too.
but this could well happen, in which case this 'Boomer', would simply be a normal sprinter/shambler again.
I never planned on them being a common occurrence, none of my suggestions were to be common (well, not overly), just like a 1 in 100, maybe more.

Still, it could potentially happen maybe once later on as an intersting side-thing should you so wish. Certainly a good way to kill off a character.

awesome :crazed:

@ the @copa bit:
so... zombie fish eh?
it would be alot faster if it was human carried though, like in a boat or something, but whatever, i dont care either way
(or maybe a secret organisation has people working for them in Europe? maybe its a different strain that infects Europe, from their labs and not the american ones? whatever you decide :) )

Ah, but here is the thing. I have no intention of it being fast. In fact, I was thinking (not that it will have any relevance to you at all as the whole period will be covered in my intro post) that there would be a good week or so at least when all contact with the Americas is lost and everyone in Europe is all "WTF?" and there are sketchy reports of bad shit going down and such like. Only then, when everyone is really panicky, does the modified virus arrive.

As for the strain itself, here's the deal: there is no human intent behind the spread to Europe. It's purely the virus spreading itself, as they are wont to do. Hence the animal carriers. Not actually zombie fish I'd like to point out, merely carriers, perhaps succumbing at a later date, again obscured in irrelevancy. Anyway, the virus is designed to be fast-acting and fast-mutating and in its new surroundings it realises the lack of leaders and adapts to this purpose, making the infected more independent from one another, more survivalist in their mutations.
So as I have said before at first they are just 'regular' infected, shamblers and sprinters. but as the story progresses we will witness a change in them not seen in the Americas; they will become increasingly animalistic, pack-based, almost tribal in their approach, although not to the extent of any clear identification - they are, in essence, animals. Which leads to a whole host of different and interesting opportunities we have not seen before and I already have several specific mutations in mind which will certainly make things...interesting :crazed:

But, on the whole, I would like to stress that once they start changing we should not be overeager to classify them into distinct groups as when you have a virus as fast as this one every creature is unique. Granted, some may be similar to each other but they are rarely identical in their aberrations.
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.

So, the fish just have the virus in them, not go all zombie-ish?

What if reptiles and fish can carry the virus, but aren't zombified by it, but mammals are? (not a big deal, but hey, we should draw the line somewhere)

Hey, i just thought of something...
if this isn't going to be called Apocalypse: Revamped, then what new name can we have for this 'spin off'(which it is)

I think it should go under the format of "Apocalypse: -something-", but what?
also, what if we give it new banners? :p new banners for new Apocalypse
(i found two ok zombie artwork things 1 2, maybe one of them can be made into one? or find other images and make them into one?)

Well I was thinking more along the lines of Apocalypse 2. Seems to cover it, don't you think?
Vortigern is suggesting 'Britpoc', but...yeah, I think we'll just ignore him for now :p
