Out of curiosity, why is this still 1.1? You all have put so much work in I'd call it at least a 1.4! :p

Really, excellent work. I honestly can't wait to get sucked into this again.

Because the first released version is 1.0, which makes the following released version 1.1, which is the one they'll be releasing soon (Hopefully :p).

Good question. It probably would be v2.0 if I hadn't already outlined the long-term version history and named v2.0 Land. I guess I'm considering these final releases more than betas, so I'm reserving the big-number versions for major, expansionesque changes. The next version was a major effort, but it is subtly profound in how it changes the mod.

To someone who's played v1.0, the aggregate differences should be quite dramatic - it plays much better. I don't usually make sweeping endorsements, but this will be one of the most balanced, thoughtful, and replayable RTS games you've ever played with this scope and scale. To someone who's never played PR though, or hasn't really played much, the cosmetic differences are probably pretty trivial (although I did spend a ton of time on visuals since the last screenshots - more on that later), so I only ask that you give v1.1 a try.

What about scouting parties and encyclopedia entries? Now, with starbases producing diffrent kinds of garrison, it's gonna be a tricky thing to check what the enemy has in stock. Do you plan to include some spy ships? Or rather try-the-luck attitude dominates?

Encyclopedia entries aren't really going to be accurate across time and campaigns. The Empire gets probe droids still and I'm going to try giving a similar ability to Alliance Infiltrators. Otherwise there are heroes and planetary advantages (intelligence networks) that can be useful.

If you want to save yourself some work, you can use bothan spies that came with PR E (IIRC). Kaleb copied the code for them, while I provided icon and changed sounds for bothan civilians :evgr:

EDIT: And yet another question regarding campaign. Can we expect AI to throw at us much more canon-related stuff? I.e. more ISDs and MC-80s instead of Praetors and Independences?

I would think that Infiltrators wouldn't be good choices for intel-gathering. They were a strike force, not a recon unit. I think Bothan spies are more canon.

Not mentioning it's something more fancy and more 'starwarish' :p

I'm just trying to save time at this point. However, the raid slot took preference, so I'll just use Bothans.

What about land battles? I know you have couple of new land maps (think splendid Brentaal IV :p ), but some other maps could be really strange. Think about Nal Hutta. With 3 invasion slots, it could be really difficult to defeat new pirate land forces...

And what about pirate space bases. We know that pirate forces are diffrent between systems. But do pirates also get some forces spawned from their star bases? Do they have unlimited reserves, as before? Are there diffrent kinds of starbases for pirates, depending on their faction?

Brentaal IV is the only new land map. Sorry, but we just need more help.

Pirates can have all of the stations that you do, so there's a lot of variety. Unlimited spawns are no more.

I think I remember PR saying a few weeks ago that jdk002 had a hard drive failure. It seems that there was significant data loss.

Don't be sorry, after all, with all this outstanding work I'll be the last to complaint :p Besides, I already have couple of my small mods - for PR 1.1 - in mind :p

If I recall, both the Rebellion and the Empire made use of the Bothan spynet...

If I recall, both the Rebellion and the Empire made use of the Bothan spynet...

Still, it was very rebel-leaning. The Empire hated the Bothans (Hand of Thrawn). That and the imps have probe droids.

Well the Empire considered non-humans second-class citizens but they made exceptions like with Thrawn and such.

The Bothan spy unit is nothing more than a Rebel probe droid. Intelligence is key for GFFA, as Ghost mentioned, and the Rebels would be lost without such a unit.
