After waiting nearly a year, Phoenix Rising version 1.1 will go live in less than two weeks! The latest iteration of the mod will be out Saturday, December 20th at the toll of midnight, GMT-5.

While the previous release in v1.0 introduced our unique system of space combat, v1.1 is best described as a complete reinvention thereof. We've improved upon literally every aspect of the game, from Skirmish to Galactic Conquest, Space to Land. A dead galaxy has been transformed into one pulsing with a life of its own, its inhabitants caught up in a war greater than themselves. Half a century of tech progression has been rebalanced, with its upgrades focused on creating the most distinct units possible. The very character of space battles has changed for the better through numerous subtle tweaks designed to improve the overall enjoyment factor. Version 1.1 is, in short, a whole new game, so I urge you to check it out in two weeks!

In the meantime, we still have a surprising number of game-defining changes to announce, so stay with us.

This is increadable...

Its amazing how such a small mod team can be so organised.

I remeber during the summer hols Zexors mod was surpossed to be out "before were back at school and college", still waiting...


Thank You guys for the promise of one of the greatist mods. I probably won't be going to sleep that night :p

Its amazing how such a small mod team can be so organised.


It's probably because it's a small team. We all know our roles, and what the other team members are doing.
The campaigns are also 98% done (all save the player starting forces for the GFFA sub-campaigns) and that has helped on the final deadline.

Well, yes - GFFA Lite - I'll update you all in a few days about the final GFFA and it's sub-campaigns.

I mean in addition to the Thrawn Campaign and Operation Shadow Hand, that sort of thing.

Not this time. The GFFA campaign has taken 2 months to complete and we have added over 100 new ships and a lot more land stuff for this campaign alone. I believe there are plans to fill more gaps in the timeline, but as you can see, these campaigns take a lot of time - and PR is still coding all of the stuff we have invented for this campaign, let alone doing all the other things that need work!

GFFA should keep you VERY busy for a long time. It is a new campaign. It's quite different from all the others.
Personally, I would appreciate all you fans to give me feedback on this campaign - I'll learn and make the next one even better!

To this end I will be asking PR to put a new section in the forums once we release, probably with the title 'Campaign Suggestions' or 'Campaign Feedback', limited to comments about the campaigns themselves.

There is so much in this campaign that we won't be able to tell you before the release (that would spoil the surprise) that I'm sure I will be answering questions like 'I saw a strange ship on [planet name] - what is it??' or 'why are there lots of [ship-name] on planet X' about the campaign for months.

I can do a sticky just for that. Adding a new forum would require an admin though.

We are holding back announcing or otherwise talking about some very fun concepts - well, fun for us :p! Think easter eggs, but more grandiose.

At least we know when the mod comes out. Still, my only disappointment is that I won't be able to play it until that morning.

Good for you. I made litle calcutation and find out that release time mean for me 2000. Sometimes it is good to live in Europe GTM +1 :)

Ummm...Wouldn't it be 6am for you then...? Because midnight in the GMT-5 time zone means it would be 5am in Greenwich, and then you add the one.

Unless you're making a joke. I can't tell...

Me being GMT-6, I only have to wait until 11pm my time.
