I'm back. I have to build some character history and then I'll jump into a thread. Cheerio.

Zhar was indeed very fun to write ;)

Anyway, awesome work Vort. Those posts were great.

Oh, and i was going to say to you guys:
I found out about these interesting diseases which made me think of arsencia's races (drow/deathknelve in particular).
One made peoples skin blue/purple. No other negative effects, they just had varying shades of purple and/or blue skin.

The other was a disease that gave people stripes/patterns on their skin.

Its an incredibly convenient real world justification for how drow and deathknelves could potentially exist in arsencia ;)

edit: Yay its Rav!

It's Rav! Everyone rejoice! Welcome back, sirrah. We've missed you... Pick a plot, any plot. Preferably one with me... ;)

Yes, hooray for Rav. ;)

Copa, I should have made this clearer, sorry: the Bremilayne Wall is just a wall, not around a city. Think Hadrian's Wall, just a string of little fortresses with a big wall connecting them to keep out the other guys.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Bah, damn. My post was much more interesting if it was a wall around a state.

The way you had written about the wall made it seem as if there was a state on one side of it, about to come under attack.

Glad to have you back Rav ;)

There is, sort of. The Bremilayne Wall separates the Aiyrene peninsula from the Mirmidan mainland. Everything behind the Wall is Aiyris (though the city itself is some fifty miles away), and the surrounding territory on the other side of the Wall is contested, between Sorgrad, Davish, Aiyris and Sherat. Over Christmas I'll try to get a full-size map of Mirmida up so we can see exactly what we're dealing with.

So what, exactly, are we defending? The city that's 50 miles away? It could be evacuated by the time 4 legions of men take the wall and then march the 50 miles...

There are plenty of small towns in the countryside between the Wall and the city, but that's not really the point. Mirmida is in a constant state of civil war, has been for decades. It's sort of a tradition nowadays. The cities all hire a bunch of mercenaries and levy their peasants into something resembling a militia and try their very best to invade each other. We're defending against Aiyrene sovereign territory being invaded by enemies.

Besides, even if you did evacuate Aiyris, where would they go? That's a city of I don't know how many thousands of people, and they have to go somewhere, but everywhere is full of enemy soldiers if we don't defend the Wall, so they're all fucked. You see where this is leading? You defend the Wall so that you don't have to defend right up against your home.

So we're fighting a bunch of people whose professions aren't AAAAAH-OOH (reference)? should make for some beautiful-yet-gruesome kill writing.

It's so comforting that the general US population has the intelligence of seven year old children...

But srsly, if we're fighting peasants armed with pitchforks and warped blades, mixed with some mercenaries, this could make for some beautiful writing.

They're not armed with pitchforks, but they are peasants. And there are plenty of mercenaries mixed in there to stiffen their resolve.

Double post, who cares. It's my forum.

I've posted in Murder and Misadventure and The Noble Warriors, but I haven't had time to post in Heading East as well. I'll either get something small up tonight or get on it properly tomorrow. I would have had time, but then Facebook screwed me over. Goddamn Facebook.

I'm debating on joining the Murder and Misadventure thread... I'm afraid I'm not very creative though :/ thinking about doing a diplomatic herald of Joad's. Less of a fighter, more of a strategist/intellectual. A mage-ish character.

Thoughts?

You should join the Noble Warriors thread. Much blood and gore to ensue shortly, what with Tyr attacking Ouranos' garrison... ergo, no need for subtle diplomatic writing, and more room for good old-fashioned fisticuffs. :shiftee2:

Fair enough. Mike does have some rather different concerns to the rest of us, so we shall forgive him his absence. I hope he doesn't mind what small use I've made of Morion.
