Kay, so this is something a bit like D&D only without the stupid dice. :p

What I'd like to do is guide a bunch of folks through a story which unfolds before them. I myself would be playing primarily ancillary and NPC characters, although I would naturally have an 'avatar' in the party, a rather Gandalf-esque wiseman character (to allow me to credibly expo things for you where needed).

There'd need to be about four or five of you interested before I go on to even request this from Vortigern.

Bear in mind that this would require a level of commitment from you all to check recgularly were it to go ahead. If you slacked and didn't check for a few days, I might be forced to put your character up for someone else to take over. I'm willing to put the effort in. Are you? :)

You'd each need to take a character class, on a first-come, first served basis (play nice). You can make up your own name and the basic profile, but certain things are fixed, to allow a bit of variety between each character and their outlook on things (a dumb-headed warrior with a hammer won't necessarily be strategising to solve a puzzle like a booksmart wizard would).

It's a little experimental, but I've done similar things before to some success.

If I get the requisite number I'll ask Vort for permission to make the forum, and then explain the situation.

All our RPG's run without dice :)

The RPG's here are more like 'group storytelling' then the boardgames RPG's people play, so from the sounds of it your RPG would keep up that theme.

So yours would be a fantasy style RPG? because we already have Arsencia (the only really active RPG here as of late) which is a fantasy style RPG

If you want you could make a character and join in :p

I say this, because;
1. we always like new members, and
2. the creation of new RPG's was suspended due to lack of members to RP in them.

Dont want to discourage you from joining, but unless the admins decide to open up RPG creation again, looks like the best you can do is join on that is already open...

SWG makes a good point there about the suspending of the creating and such. However, if there was enough interest then I'll go ahead and de-suspend. Also, I'd play presuming my level of activity is considered high enough :D
On a separate note, Vortigern isn't actually in charge of the RPG Frontier, he's Admin for Creativity. Just so ya know.
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
There are 10 kinds of people in this world: Those who understand binary and those who don't.
FZM and Vort don't do tag wrestling...but if they did, they'd probably be the worst tag-wrestlers in the world.

I'll join if this gets put up, but I'd like to know how this is any different than Arsencia.

First, I'd like to point out that I am no stranger to forum RPGing in general. I've been doing it for a number of years before I ran the RPG guild here (which existed before RPG frontier). I'm not wanting to patronise or pull rank or age, but I'm just buffering against being patronised. ;)

In truth, I dare say I would be even more elitist than this forum is in my selection of members to permit to take part - I would not only want committed, but also of more than rudimentary literacy. I used to play on a number of boards which were more open and invariable found myself irked. I swore I'd never find myself clambering up my own arse for elitism, but nonetheless here I am willing to do just that for this venture! XD (I should say, Fire Ze Missiles, that I would consider you active - your post count stands testament to the fact- and your posts of high enough quality :p ).

My apologies about dropping Vortigern's name. I thought he was the admin for this section, especially since he plugged an RPG that was hosted here not so long since. Bad assumption on my part.

And I was unaware of any restriction on play creation. I won't join one that's open already purely because any plotline they have seems to have already run along without me and I would feel a bit of a dick intruding at this late stage and doubtless jinxing their luck at the table. I have a (probably irrational) fear that I seem to be a dealbreaker on RPGs.

To answer Ravnin's question: Yes, my idea would be set in a fantasy realm. The difference between this and Arsencia would probably be in that I'd be guiding the storyline and the characters in a somewhat more structured manner, with little if any freeform. If that fails to suffice as difference, it takes place in an entirely different world/universe of my own devising (I confess, I haven't looked at Arsencia's background, ever, so that should prove testament to how much I can reliably state that it is my own devising). If that does not suffice, then it is different in that it is run by me. If that does not suffice, then very little will.

It matters little to me if others are particularly interested, or if it gets the chance to run or not. I would like it to, don't get me wrong, but I'm not going to lose sleep if it does not. Regardless of outcome, so be it. I certainly ain't going to take it as dark-seriously as I ever used to take RPGs. :) I know they can bring out the worst in me. ;)

No no no! The RPGs can easily slot in a new character, you can be quickly brought up to speed on the current story, and then join the group fairly seamlessly. Besides, Arsencia only really just got going. Basically we have just met each other, joined the party and headed off together.

Come on, we need all the people we can get, i speak for all of us when i say we would love to have you join

For example, there are multiple ways you can be fitted into Arsencia at the moment:
We are currently in a labyrinth, we could find you lost and escape with you
We could find you in Maughold(a big fortress), possible taken prisioner in one of the dungeons by the lord Vayu (the 'bad guy')
You could have a change of heart, and go from serving Vayu to join us, or you could have been a 'double agent' all along, secretly trying to assassinate Vayu
We could find you afterwards, when we get out of the fortress out in the forest or a town.

And thats just to name a few... come on, you know you want too ;)
(but i understand if you dont want to join, its up to you, but we would certainly like it if you would... like i said, we want all the members we can get, but if you dont want to you dont have to, dont feel like you are getting pressured into it {But if you dont i'll punch this kitten and it'll be all your fault for not joining, you wouldn't do that to a cute little kitten, now would you? :p })

Hehe, fair enough. The kitten wasn't what swayed me, but the idea that it is a guided plot as opposed to just freeform (I got sick of freeform a long time ago as all the freeform forums across the intarweb are full of pre-pubescents, illiterates, gods, imbeciles, assholes or a combination of the above...get me, being all 3l33tist...) As I said I'm not familiar enough with the world to have known what was going. Probably will join tho, come to think of it, but don't think this idea is no longer on the cards! If people have interest in it, I'll still plug for it to come about ;)

I would join, as long as you can keep it going ((i mean, my RPG died out, and i thought it was pretty solid... so much i had planned but never to be. Not enough members to keep it going. It was good for a while but now its just dead))

Yeah, its a guided plot, with Vort acting as leader (Nowe originally 'owned' arsencia, but he kinda disappeared so now vort is in charge, and i have to say i like it better since[no offence Nowe, if you ever see this]).

And it wont be hard to get into Arsencia, theres not much indepth background, its basically your generic fantasy(although, we havn't run into any dragons yet... I wonder if we will, or weather vort decided to remove them), although we have fought a few demons and stuff.

Anyway, we could fill you in more if you decide to join. Its not very hard to get into it.

I just need to deliberate an 'in' as I don't want to just materialise like [Ash has entered the game.] sort of thing. I want my entrance to be credible. ;)

Glad to see you're debating on coming back.

As for your possible RP, I might debate on doing it. The problem that I find myself running in to is that having multiple characters (i.e. one in every RP here, which I've done before...) makes it tough for me to flesh them out.

As for your entrance into Arcensia, we could give you the honors of killing the big bad boss guy in some uber manner. That'd cement your place in the party... and it's also how I kinda solidified my part. Fall in love with the girl, kill a bunch of hardcore adversaries in a badass way, and then torment yourself with ghosts from the past. Slightly generic, but it works ;)

If I get something more than a simple musket and still get to shoot lead into my enemy's collective faces, I'll debate on whether I should join, right now, this sounds little of my interest, no offense if any taken.

Necro, eh? Ash has left the Frontier, or so it seems. To be honest, I haven't seen him around Revora at all in a while now. Where does he go that's not the Think Tank? Good to see that you remembered my phrasing, though. Enemies' collective face indeed.

Anyway, I highly doubt this will ever exist. Sorry.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

No, he pulled interest on this one and joined Arsencia instead, then disappeared. Now I haven't seen him in weeks... :p

Very well, Ash if you want to reawaken this plotline/rp idea, just post it again. NecroThread is Necro'd.
