What FAQs do we need? (list thread)

OK,

With the much anticipated release coming up shortly now, I thought about things that new people might want to know about the mod...and realized that the hardpoints were pretty much it for me. I've heard an encyclopedia of sorts mentioned but believe that Kaleb Graff is all over that. Any other ideas? I figured I'd list them below. And post answers and links if you've got 'em! Makes my writing job easier...

Some of the differences between lasers and such? Warhead types? Snub-ship uses (X-Wings vs. Nova Wings)...

A list of all the upgrades to see if its really worth paying that much for something that really isnt worth it. Maybe hero bonuses also.

Some master weapon encyclopaedia would be useful; example entry:
weapon; strenght (per time unit)*range

heavy turbolaser; 150*1200

any other values needed? maybe bypass shields?

Isn't PR using armor and weapon types to make weapons effective against certain targets?
Also, don't the hardpoints use the same projectiles at different fire rates?
Plus, the files don't use SBD/RU values, which could cause confusion if we quote two different systems.
A comprehensive list would be quite large.

Hmm... I'd go with a short description for basic stuff like 'good against, bad against, range, and general amount of damage' and describe the modifiers separately.
Unless you really want an encyclopedia.

I plan on working this information into the game itself at some point; it's just pretty time consuming. Maybe I'll try to make the next release more user-friendly.

Ah yes...but if someone else (sadly, probably me) does the data entry in a FAQ all you should need to do is cut and paste...

Well, yes and no. You probably won't be able to fully decipher my intentions behind every upgrade branch and similar lines of "behind the scenes" thinking.

Good point. Might just be faster for you to DIY from that point of view.
