Samuel L Jackson is the shit, motherfucker!
To be fair, he has had some good roles, though they are invariably supporting roles.
Jim Carrey, I think he's just creepy. Not a great actor (he can only play 'the funny guy', which he does to varying degrees of success), but has had some decent films.
The true sign of a good actor, IMO, is one who can act just about anything the role requires. Tom Hanks is quite a good example of that. Patrick Stewart and Ian MacKellen are two others. Can't think of many more tho...

I just watched Die Hard 3. It is truly the best of the Die Hards. Samuel L Jackson at his very best, and Jeremy Irons is always genuine class. Now there's an actor who can do whatever the role requires.
