I heard a demo was released in the PS3-store. I think it's only in the US, because I don't see it here...

Yeah, checked for it a few days ago but I didn't find it.

Edit: If you feel like going through the hassle (I do not): How to get the US-exclusive Conquest Demo

The demo was released exclusively for the PS3 on December 23. The 360 got the demo yesterday January 2nd. As of now there is no hint as to whether a DS or PC demo will be released

I'd really recommend not getting it. It's even less fun then we thought it would be. No AI in multiplayer kinda sucks.

want to start something? :D

No AI for multiplayer, but if you can get a full 16 player game going on, the game is very very fun.

It is, but I would still like masses of orcs to kill ;)

I'm sure they'll have AI in the full release. It'll be the standard Battlefront AI, which will alternate between standing still as mindless fodder for your choppa, and getting instant headshots. I actually played this at a friend's house... I have nothing better to say than what Penny Arcade has:

Conquest tries to remind you that it's from the same people who made Star Wars: Battlefront, which is nothing to be proud of. I understand that they sold well, but let us be honest with one another: these games were pierced tins of rotting meat, swollen with the byproducts of their putrefaction.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

Battlefront 1 was not a bad game. Granted, it was a pathetic shooter compared to its peers, but the ability to give commands to your troops in battle was kind of nifty. It was nice to be a captain, instead of being a soldier in your typical FPS or God in your typical RTS.

Of course, they reduced your ability to do this in Battlefront 2 (at least on PS2, which is all I've played it on), which pissed me off a tad.

Battlefront 1 was decent, but it was still a crappy fps. However, if you enjoy both star wars and shooting games, it was great. There's better star wars shooters though...like republic commando.

Conquest seems to be going for the same deal, except that it destroys lore more than battlefront ever did. You'd expect that to be the most deterring factor in a community like this anyway, since most people here are hard or at least semi hardcore tolkien fans. So, I'm guessing it'll be a average or little below average game that appeals to a lot of people who have seen the lord of the ring movies and are interested.

Doesn't mean it's a bad or good game, but just a game styled for certain people. I probably still won't be getting it though :D

Omg... I downloaded the demo for my PS3 last night from the Playstation Store... jeeez, what a waste of hard drive space. It looks graphically o.k. (enviroments and units), but could use higher res (from 720p to 1080p). It's kinda edgy and blurry in a strange mix. And the FX is CRAZY. Regular Numenorian soldiers with flaming swords that would make the Witch King go green of envy  Wizards with lightning bolts of Saruman class and ninja looking elves... And the animations... oh lord! HALF the speed of the anims would be a LOT better. All units (except trolls) run around flopping arms, legs and weapons like they're insects on acid! What a failure... and from the gameplay trailers I've seen it's not looking better with other units and places. How about an Uruk Berseker with Darth Sidious lightning attacks? And Attack Trolls that are slow like drunken whales. Gosh... I'm so disappointed :p

I played it in-store the other day. It's officially appalling.

Battlefront 1 was not a bad game. Granted, it was a pathetic shooter compared to its peers, but the ability to give commands to your troops in battle was kind of nifty. It was nice to be a captain, instead of being a soldier in your typical FPS or God in your typical RTS.

Because no games have ever done that before. Brother's in Arms did it for starters, and is a pretty influential game that has had it's formula copied a few times.

I've just played it. It has some flaws, but the general idea is OK. The implementation just lacks.

Nothing a bit of good modding won't fix. Of course, that's if it's moddable at all.

You sounds a lot more postive then some people on the forums of Pandemic! :p
