Is anyone else having exceptions while playing with the CSA on skirmish? I had one while I was producing an Invincible-class Cruiser.

Playing against? Hoards of exceptions, no idea what, however. Even some fighting Rebels. What map were you on?

I've only played once with the CSA, and never against it, but I guess its the same thing. I don't remember which map I was playing, just that it was the first one on the list that allowed you to play with three factions.

If it was during production, I wouldn't expect that to cause an exception. More likely, they would come at the beginning or end of production, or when you brought them into combat... something like this. I don't suspect it was the Invincible, but maybe something the AI was doing. I'll need more information though to be able to figure it out.

I'll keep playing and if the exception repeats, I'll take a more careful look to see what was happening in the battle.

EDIT: Just got another exception error while playing as the CSA. The screen went black, though, so I couldn't see what was going on.

Try just playing CSA against CSA. That'll at least eliminate the other factions.

Are you using any mods or bugfixes?

CSA vs CSA at Kuat, medium. No exceptions, though the CSA never builds higher starbases. Ever.

Odd, they shouldn't be able to build units if they can't also upgrade their stations - it's the same script.

The AI will upgrade. It just takes them a really, really long time since it thinks both stations are one really expensive station, I think. Yeah, its annoying, however if you sit back, get some decent ships at your Golan (Recusants, Dreadnoughts, Dodonnas, Victories) and just porc there, it will upgrade eventually.

The AI can apparently queue up a lot of stuff all at once. My AI ally will select the space station upgrades almost immediately. (Making it so I can't.) Yet it doesn't actually build for quite a few minutes when there are tons of units out for both sides.

On an unrelated topic, anyone know any good custom maps that would work well with PR? The stock ones get boring after a while.

Yeah, I've noticed that's a problem. I'm not sure how to do anything about it without compromising how it builds or its ability to upgrade (see TacticalMultiplayerBuildSpaceUnitsGeneric.lua under Scripts\AI\SpaceMode, specifically the numbers on the right).

We need more mappers :crazed:.

Well, I wasn't asking for maps made for PR, just any good space skirmish maps. The stock ones are not very good, and the community does things much better, which is sadly how things usually are in the game industry. Company screws it up, modders fix/improve it, modders get ignored, company makes $$$ off bad product because wavering buyers buy because the game's problems got fixed by unpaid and uncredited modders.

Anyways, does anyone know a collection of good space skirmish maps? Working well with PR is good but not necessary.

Really, we ought to have custom Skirmish maps though. They wouldn't take that long to do, especially for space.

I still keep getting them on Yavin 4, no matter who is involved.

The map is probably bugged somehow then. I'll check it out.

Update: I don't see anything wrong with it. There's really almost nothing to the Yavin 4 map. The only semi-oddity, not that it should matter, was that it used four spawn point markers (red flags) per team, but so do some other maps. Normally it seems to be three, sometimes just one.

I guess you should start trying other maps consistently to see if they cause an exception too. Hoth also uses four, if you want to start there.

Heh, got an exception on Hoth too, and that was Imps vs Rebels. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

I've occasionally gotten exceptions on skirmish, but have been unable to pin down what the cause is. So far, I'm thinking that it's some kind of ability not working with a specific target...

Possible CSA trying to upgrade starbase?

Actually, if it is an ability, its a question of which abilities are shared between the CSA, Rebels, and Empire. A venn diagram might be helpful here...
