I have spent time since 1.1 came out trying to fix some of the things about land. I haven't gotten everything, but I have managed to cut ranges significantly.

Thanks. Added to mod list. And thanks for the files, too :)

I've been offline for some time, but IIRC Kaleb used my initial changes (all HPs multiplied by 10) as a basis of this mod. I recall him wanting to mod this back later on, but other than that, I don't remember how's progress. I know it's OT, but could you give us a sneak peak of what you plan to do with land?

Actually, this is the non-hp multiplied by 10 version, as I didn't like the way battles ran with that. I just changed the range. And is there any way to disable the mercy scripts and the revealing of attackers?

ok, sorry, i thought you first used my changes, and the next release gonna

As for reveal map, i've tried to disable it long time ago, spend some time on it, but no luck. Apparently we need to have some kind of building on map. Temporary solution would be to give pirates invisible, victory irrelevant structure, but IMO we might simply try to solve the case with buildings - something that PR works on, as well.

I'm irritated about the map reveal. That just makes it no fun to play.

Ok, when I install this patch and try to start the game then I get this message:

An exception has occurred. See _logfile.txt and _except.txt for details.
Press CANCEL to exit or RETRY to debug

Pressing RETRY does nothing, and when I replace the backup files every thing works fine.
What am I doing wrong?

Don't take anything I say seriously, EVER!

There's no way to get around the exceptions. Once one's occurred, the game is going to be shut down.

Do you have any sub-mods or personal modifications currently on your copy of PR? If so, that's most likely the issue. If two submods edit the same file, the likelihood of an exception is high.

I will list them:
I got the Unofficial PR v1.1.2 Patch, the Executor and Eclipse mod and these mods from Kitkun's MiniMods: Cheaper Tug RnD, Carrier & Golan Complements, Defence Satellites and Golan Power. I'm no expert and I didn't go over every thing but I don't think any thing from one another was replaced. Unless there is a known issue with any of these. I am a Techtard after all...

That's probably your problem right there. The Unofficial PR v1.1.2 sub-mod contains Ghostrider's Land Assault Patch, which edits a large portion of the PR v1.1 Land files. Installing Kaleb Graff's Land Mod will overwrite a lot of pre-edited Land files, leading to what is most likely a lot of bad references and things.

To make it work, you'd have to do a very long and painstakingly painful personal compatibility edit.

My advice is not to bother with the compatability edit.
I completely re-wrote the entire armour/weapons matrix from scratch, which affects projectiles and hardpoints (as well as ALL the land units, naturally) - making this mutually exclusive from any other mod that affects land files.
Sorry - but trying to meld the two would be pretty well impossible.

You would have to go into each land file that Kaleb changed, find those changes and then edit my Assault Patch Files ONE AT A TIME, and after each change see if you had an exception (which is highly likely).
And I can't even tell you what I did now!
It's gonna take MONTHS.....

Don't go there!
Cheers

Ok, and thanks for the help, it's very appreciated. I'll just auto resolve land battles, which I don't really mind, space is where all the fun is! Can't wait for the next version, it's supposed to have land modifications? I think I read that... Anyway thanks again for the help you guys are great.
