Aye, I always thought Palpatine let Windu fight on for a while to get Anakin to the Dark Side, at least temporarily :p
Hey, he slaughtered the other jedis in 5 seconds, and I don't believe Windu would have lasted as long if Palpatine didn't hold back...
Besides, he needed a good reason for the Republic to hunt down the Jedi, and his scars was good enough reason..

of course that's why! :p

Although Windu was the best of the Jedi who came to arrest Palpatine. By a significant degree. :p (This opinion is based on EU sources)

I never said the prequels weren't good, just that it went downhill from ewoks on.

Okay, maybe not incest, but bed scenes and kissy scenes. People are supposed to be having their limbs cut off and stuff. I'd be Lucas spent more time on the kissy scenes than the duels. Seriously, I imagined a lot more force stuff between Yoda and Sidious, not playing hot potato with 5 ton platforms and deadlocking once.

Seriously? All of episode 2 and 3 were action sequences pretty much.

The book may have been a little more epic, but that's mostly just matthew stover's effects. The movie was fine, though more character developement/funny dialogue/less annoying anakin would have been appreciated.

Don't make me kill you.

I've been reading a lot of Diana Wynne Jones lately... most notably Dark Lord of Derkholm, The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, and the Dalemark Quartet.

Anyone else read those?

I've heard of them, but never read any. I would ask if they're any good, but I think you've made your opinions clear already.

I saw SW Ep.3 today (was watching my brother), and I have to say... I only counted 2 kissing scenes with Anakin and Padme... Duels? Far more..
Okay, so I didn't exactly count, but it crossed my mind, and I got 2, so add a +\- 1 on it :wink_new:

Btw, anyone read Lord of the Flies? I've gotta read it in my English at school, so I'm just wondering, is it any good? :lion:
I've only come to chapter 2, but it seems alright so far..

I haven't read it, but I believe it is by F. Scott Fitzgerald, or one of his contemporaries. I never liked him, what books of his I have read aren't the "great masterpieces" that Literature classes claim they are. :wink_new:

I know what you mean. If there's a SW movie with too much romance, its Episode 2.....not 3, not by a long shot.

It gets fairly interesting in the second half Lauri. I found the first half somewhat dull by comparison

Lord of the Flies is by William Golding, not F. Scott Fitzgerald.

And The Great Gatsby is awesome.

Edit: Oh, and Gatsby is, in fact, a literary masterpiece. You may not agree because your taste is different, but you can't deny the amounts of praise, positive reviews and sold copies. Denying it's validity as a masterpiece is comparable to saying Thriller by Michael Jackson didn't go platinum because you disliked the sound. :lion:

Gatsby is all right, I guess. I enjoyed it somewhat, but I really didn't get it... then again, that was 3 years ago.

Just because everyone likes it doesn't mean it was a masterpiece. People, as a whole, are notoriously stupid.

And I'm not denying all the praise and sales, I'm just asking, "Why do people think so?" cause I honestly can't myself. It does come down to tastes some.

(corrected on the author of Lord of the Flies. Somehow, I knew I had gotten it wrong. :wink_new: )

Every band sucks, depending on who you ask :p

That goes for books and stuff too... You can't really have a global vote on things to be a masterpiece or not, it's just if it's sold enough, I guess ;)
Like Harry Potter, I don't really like it, but it's pretty popular and I'd guess a masterpiece.. all of them :p

Lord of the Rings, I love it, but I know people who's "OMG, you really like that boring dull crap?"

It's true, everything is subjective. Like how some people genuinely liked and even believed the Da Vinci Code, even though it was the worst pile of smarts-retardant bullshit I have ever had the misfortune to come across. It's just one of those things.

Harry Potter was a masterpiece of an idea to begin with, but the execution let the series down in the later books. At least, that's what I thought. The style degenerated, animals and characters began to appear exactly when they were needed, which annoyed me no end, and the whole angsty teenager thing that our scarred protagonist had going just grated on my nerves something chronic.

Every band sucks, depending on who you ask.

The other side of that is that every band, book, film and fireside saga is brilliant, depending on who you ask. Isn't subjectivity wonderful?

I'm afraid not. It's quantum fetish mechanics, also known as Rule 34. If you can think of it, people jerk off to it, therefore somebody likes it. ;)
