I agree. They really ruin late game for me. They should do a lot less damage, or rather, removed completely in favour of some passive unit buff or something. But seeing as this is more of balance update, just have them do less damage.

Meh, I'd say keep the damage, but lower the time even more.

I'd rather lower the damage for the balrog. It doesn't make a lot of sense for the AoTD.
However, if you shorten the time they'll get useless pretty fast.

Maybe decrease the AotD's movement speed. Right now they catch up with anything you try to move away from them.

I just hate losing completely upgraded and varied armies over and over again.

Could you possibly change the AotD's attack from magic (or whatever it is) to something on its own. Then change the damage they do to each unit (weak against heros, upgraded upper-tier units. Strong against Un-upgraded/lower tier).

It would take the most work, so I won't suggest this as the primary plan.

Same here. Same thing occurs with Mordor, whose pults are much more high quality than anything else on the field.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. Mordor's 'pults should be the weakest ones out there, but in almost all of the mods I've played they put the other factions to shame. They don't even need upgrades... :p It's not... fair... ;) :p

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

They can't even get upgrades.

There's also the matter of the Rohan peasant rush, which will utterly destroy the Elves early-game, or even Isengard if the person controlling them is good.

Peasent rush is fine. Isen's is far worse, and I can handle that. Agasint elves anyways.

I've never been utterly destroyed by a peasant rush... I don't think it's that bad.

Meh, whatever. There are more pressing issues... like lowering the price of Arwen. She's worth less than Haldir to me. She either needs a bigtime armor buff or to have about 400-500 knocked off her price tag.

To you. She's proven herself more useful to others. Ever gone orc-bowling with her? Didn't think so.
