I recently read the book Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynne Truss, and the title of the forum brought it all back to me. To be brief, I'll paraphrase the quote.

Writer's Guild? Lucky him.

So, perhaps a name change is in order?

I'm going to go with "I run this place, thus I am the writer, therefore it is my guild." That way everybody is satisfied.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Eats, Shoots & Leaves

Is it a book about koalas?
Hostile is a cunt.

Thought I'd have that here to save time.

Actually, it's a quite enjoyable rant on the degradation of grammar in modern society. She wrote a sequel, Talk to the Hand, which was a similar rant except on manners... several people think she should be a saint for her punctuation vigilante skills.

*actually, the joke was about a panda *

The guide belongs to a writer, any writer who wats to post up their work, therefore it is the writer's guide

although, i guess it could be changed to writers' guide, to be more precise of a guide belonging to many writers

SWG, it's the Guild, not the Guide.

Also, here's the joke:

A panda walks into a bar and orders a packet of peanuts, nothing else. The barman doesn't know exactly what's up, but does as he's told. After all, who disobeys a surly panda? The second he's done eating, the panda pulls out a pistol and shoots two of the patrons. He's about to walk out when the barman manages to speak through his shock.

"Why did you do that?" he demands. The panda gets out a little dictionary and tosses it down onto the bar, then leaves. The barman picks up the book, looks up 'panda' and reads it. The entry says "Panda: large black and white bear, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Yeah, I read that book ages ago. I also have 'Doctor Whom', which is excellent. It's about a Time Gentleman who goes around correcting the universal grammar.

And you know what? I can't be bothered to move the apostrophe, but maybe some time in the future. Depends how soon I get out of bed...
