Hi all,

The other day, after fighting 7 Mordor AI armies, I have realised the incredible number of Nazgûl they can have (9 x 7 = 63!!!)

So, taking in account this mod focus on realism, I propose Heroes should be unique within the same team. It's quite annoying to have 4 Sarumans walking around, you know.

Thats why you need diffrent armies ;)
I always do a 3v3 map like "The Shire" and do a evil vs good match ^^
It's epic ;)

Why do you fight seven of the same thing? ;) doesn't that defeat the purpose of fighting more than one enemy?

The Dark is patient...

The Dark is generous...

And it always wins...

But in the heart of its power lies weakness...

It takes but a single candle to hold it back...

Love is more then a candle...

Love can ignite the stars.

I don't think so! I like the epic feeling of my handful Gondorians fighting greatly outnumbered against the legions of Sauron. According to the Lore, the bad factions never fought together a single battle.

I'd like to see loads of enemies and unique heroes attacking me, instead of loads of repeated heroes.

Liar!

Mordor sent Uruks and Orc-captains in allegiance to the Black Tower and Lidless Eye to Moria, Isengard, and the Misty Mountains to act as Sauron's fingers in those areas. Grishnahk (sp?) and the Uruk-chieftain (as well as some Uruk warriors Gandalf mentioned seeing) in Moria are examples.

Well as Nazgul stating, the mod is intending for good to fight evil and I never thought that before because when I was Isen trying to take out Mordor, the results weren't very good lol.

Even so, Boromir is dead, so is Lurtz, Elrond never left Rivendel, Dain was too old to fight, Galadrial would never take the ring, Osgiliath had not bridges, and Shelob got smacked by Sam. If we are going strictly off lore, the game would be pretty boring.

However, I do think something to keep AI hero repeats down would be good. Sometimes its nice to have a 2 Mordor vs 2 Gondor at Osgiliath, but the two Aragorns and the 18 ring wraiths kind of throw off some of the realism. Maybe make it possible to turn heroes off. (That would be cool. Just nothing but huge armies)

I agree 100% with Arthadan. I too enjoy the occasional 3 on 1 fight, that is, me versus three Isengards, and it's a little distracting having three Saurmans running about blowing my battalions away. But do you think it could be possible to cap the heroes? It might annoy your allies (real people allies that is) if you horde up all the heroes and do stupid things with them. I thin someone suggested an option to turn them off entirely. You could add on to this by giving another option to limit the amount of heroes on the map. This could be the layout:

Hero Options:

#Full (Like it is now)
#Limited (Only one of each hero allowed on the map at one time)
#None (No heroes [that was a tough one to figure out])

I'm not sure about wether or not this is possible but maybe something can be done with the create a hero option. Whenever you play against the pc your given a choice of create a heroes to choose from and depending on wether your good or evil you get to choose certain types from the list. And that includes choosing the create a heroes for the computer controlled factions. Perhaps that list could include the normal heroes as well and some kind of selection process for each team could be made there.

But this is just a wild guess on my part as I know nothing about coding so am unsure if this is even possible :)
No chance of returning....Zero chance of surviving....Well!? When do we get started?

Maybe all factions can only have 1 hero a game and no1 else have that hero. You chould do this by adding all the heros to the create a hero selection thing. To balance things maybe people who pick "weaker" heros chould automaticly start out with them giving them a huge advantange and people who picked strong ones whould have to wait for a reinforcement timeer like in WOTR mode.

I think that would be compicated to balance and, in my opinion, boring. If everyone only got to choose one hero, it would be a flyboy to take out enemy catapults and battering rams. Then who's going to command your footmen? What about your cavalry? Or your archers? Not to mention Aragorn is awesome.

And? I was speaking about whole evil armies fighting together as allies, not a handful of Mordor Uruks amidst the whole army of Moria :p

About how could it work, I would keep it simple. All Heroes are "unblocked" at the begining of the game, when someone in your team buy a Hero, he becomes blocked (unavailable) for everybody else. When the Hero dies, he can be resurrected by any player.

Are there any coders out there who can comment on level of difficulty?

1. Yes, Boromir is dead.
2. Lurtz never even existed in the books. It doesn't matter for him.
3. Elrond didn't leave Rivendell during the War of the Ring...
4. I beg to differ. Dain fought until the last day of his life, and was described as "old but unbowed" when he fell in battle before Erebor.
5. Galadriel seriously considered taking the ring... ^_^
6. Yes it did.
7. But she didn't die.
