That would be an excellent crazy "just for the fun of it" mod idea, but a full scale game? Nah....

LucasArts creates games that affliated to anything George Lucas creates or stamps his approval with. Never in a million years would he want the LotR license.

EA is a big publisher, they have the resources to start new IPs that sadly don;t do so well in the market and still make big high-end projects that cost even more. LucasArts may have plenty of funding but they do not come close to taking on one of the big Publishing Powerhouses (EA, Activision, and Ubisoft).

Bethesda takes on other IPs along with their own IPs. Some people seem to not have noticed that Fallout 1 and 2 were made by a very different company. However Bethesda would probably be last looked at for developers attempting to purchase the license. New Line will most likely look at who can offer the most money (In which case it would be one of the 3 powerhouses)

Have you read the topic? :crazed:
It says WB (who has the rights now) has it's own developers.

What is this with people thinking Oblivion was good? It was TERRIBLE. The only thing I'd want to see from it in a LOTR game would be the ability to walk anywhere. That's not going to happen though, as M-E is so big that it would take the player months to go across the entire thing. Other than that, nothing about TES IV works in a LOTR setting.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

More importantly is why do people think Bethesda would even be able to get one of the most high-profile licenses around right now. Oblivion was alright (Amazing compared with Fallout 3) but Nertea is right. Especially with all of you bashing Conquest for having magic and such seeing as Oblivion has all the stuff within it.

Yes, but even the common person in Oblivion can cast a fireball. Only the most powerful can cast a fireball that does 100 damage in 100 meters.

All games and game companies have they good sides and bad sides :p We have to live with it... or mod the games to suit our wishes :p

Nartea are you kidding me?!?!?! Oblivion was an awesome game. A lot of changes in gameplay would have to change if a LOTR game is mad e in the way Oblivion was. But it would still make a good game.
