If it's outdated or succeeded then it doesn't count.

A lot of the HoME series writing was ideas and concepts he was toying with and wasn't included for good reason often it completely contradicted other writings or through the entire history out of whack.

For Example Gollum at one point was going to be over 2000 years old but that was dropped in favour of a more sensible 500 years.
Because if he had the ring for 2000 years surely he would of turned into a wraith.

One of the originals, but he completely dropped it. And yes, Ringy, I made a horrible mistake :).

Elven is correct. And no, Radspakr, I disagree. It depends on the tense I ask the question in. For example, if I say "Which names were used to describe Numenor," the answers will be different than if I had used "Which names are used to describe Numenor." If you don't like it, you aren't required to post. :good:

Next question...

What was the original spelling of "Mordor"?

Trick question, it used to be called "RAWRdor", before Tolkien's publisher got on his back about it.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Ermmm... no. ;) I've been reading all of the drafts and I haven't seen a single mention of that. :good:

Cawdor. The original concept was a Macbeth/LotR crossover, but he later replaced King Macbeth with the Dark Lord Sauron.

*laughs hysterically*

The original spelling was "MOAR!!--dur" because Tolkien used to troll the forums of 4chan. :good:

No, and no. Vort, if this was a theater, I'd make you get up, turn around three times, spit on your hand, and slap your forehead. ;)

Rafv Nin, you're closer than you think... ;) More basic, though.

You idiots! It's just without the dashes, which makes it "MOAR!!dur". Clearly. ;)

And if Vort happens to read this, is it grammatically acceptable to put the period outside the quotations at the end of the sentence, like I just did, or should I have it inside? You're supposed to have it inside, but the quoted material did not include the period...

*obsessed writer hijacks thread* ;)

Don't worry, you're well within your grammatical rights there. The full stop goes outside the quotation marks if it is not a part of the quotation.

Was it Whoredor? A land of painted floozies and cheap thrills, populated not by orcs, but by whorcs, their apparently-sexy-at-first-glance cousins. Just so everyone's aware, I know nothing of all this obscure LotR lore, so am I going to continue with the stupid responses. ;)

@ Vort: ;) Still, if that's the way it's going to be, since nobody has gotten too close yet, I'll give the answer to y'all.

Mor-dor.

So simple, yet so difficult at the same time. ;) Anyway, the next question which is stated in imperative form.

"Name four non-Turin members of the Gaurwaith."

Milan, Rome, Genoa, Napoli. Assuming the Gaurwaith is a confederation of Italian cities, that's your answer.

Aeglos. Translates to icicle, and is both a plant and the name of Gil-galad's spear.
